Yesterday I went to the Dick's here in Chesterfield Twp. Mi. and their prices were compareable to all the other places including BPS.

There was one very nice exception to the equal prices, all their Strike King Bleeding Bait Pro Model Crankbaits are marked $1.99 the same bait at BPS is marked $4.69. Then when I got to the register it rang-up at $1.47 less 20%, my final price was $1.10. I didn't realize until I got home and checked my receipt how inexpensive it was.

Anybody in the area should check out the new store, if you like the Strike king baits we have the deal of the season.

I bet everyone will have a different experience with DSG. I know the one by me is very competitive given there is a Walmart across the street from it. It's not very big but it constantly has items on clearance. However, they carry the old Stradic on clearance for $119. A premier DSG store about 20 minutes away doesn't have as much tackle marked down but carries the same Stradic marked down to $99.

I discussed one time with a store manager why different DSG's have different pricing. They will price match a DSG or another local competitor with no problem but he mentioned that their inventory system is very obsolete. They can't even do an inventory check to see if another DSG in the area carries a certain item (I encountered that when I had to return a trolling motor battery and had to call each DSG individually to see if they still had any in stock).

I usually stop into a DSG or Gander Mt. when passing one to see if there are any deals. I found that at both DSG and Gander you will find different deals at each. I think both are not up to date in their inventory systems and both have discretion to offer deals given local competition. I work closely to several DSG's and Ganders and the deals can differ vastly between them.

Just my .02.

lard bass, that's strange about the inventory system at Dicks. At the Dick's I worked at in Virginia, we could check the inventory of other stores in the district with a handheld device. It was difficult to do though and not all the workers knew how to do it, maybe that is their problem.

I went to Dick's this summer to buy the Chatterbait kit which was "on sale" for $19.95, down from $29.95 but when I went to check out they said that it was not on sale and the $29.95 price was firm.

Even BPS was selling the kit at $19.95.

So Dick's upped the price by $10 and then said they were on sale

The Chatterbait kit is now $19.95 at Dick's.

Today I went to the Chesterfield Towne Center Dick's store and their fishing department is poor on a good day. No sales information other than for a few items that were being discontinued.

Zoom plastics selection was poor, at best.

Lucky for me I went to Castaways on Route 1 just south of Route 288 and picked up some Mocassin Blue finesse and dead ringer plastics plus some cherry seed and watermealon dead ringer worms.

And the only reason I went to Dick's was that I received a $20 gift card for Christmas.

So much for Dick's.

I went to Dick's yesterday and they had 20% off all Strike King, Zoom, and Berkley products. They have really raised their prices in the past year though. In the spring I could get soft plastics from them for about 20 cents cheaper per pack than any other place around here. Now, they are about 20 cents more than every tackle place around here. They always have coupons out though, so I still go there regardless.

I didn't believe it either until I had to return a bad trolling motor battery.  I had to call about a dozen DSG's in my area and not one of them could do an inventory check at other stores.  I also had to call around to see if any of them had any Avids marked down.  I am surprised that the VA locations had a different system.  DSG is based here in Pittsburgh and you would think stores closer to the mother ship would have better systems.  I guess not.

The Dick's SGS in my area is a mess. the Fishing area always looks like a Tornado passed through it. So, no business from me. We did just have a Bass Pro Shops open up not 3 hours away though. I'm thinking Road trip this weekend. ;D :-X
