Bass XL Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Well, I noticed this thread yesterday evening and was absolutely furious. I couldn't believe it. I fished the Missouri Junior Bassmaster this season, and did fairly well ,Not well enough to qualify for the JWC, but well enough that I was placing in almost every tournament and got to be really good friends with the 2 kids from missouri that did qualify for the JWC......I cant even imagine what my friends are going through right now.... I cant believe BASS did this....Our tournaments ended this year in october...the kids that made it to the JWC have to wait OVER A YEAR untill the JWC comes around....And another thing, what are we juniors competing for in this upcoming 2008 season??? when is our JWC going to be?? NOVEMER 2009??.....i dont know what to do...i might be moving to BassWorld, or if i can find a Junior FLW....maybe I'll go there.....Here is what my Youth Director said: Â "Yesterday was the first I had heard of this. Â There are youth that have already bought non refundable airline tickets for family and friends to go to the event in February. Â I have heard from a lot of the other Youth directors as they are coming back with negative feedback. Â I will keep you informed. Â We will have our tournaments as scheduled but I am not sure when our next years state champion will fish." Heres what I think they should have done: Have the JWC with the classic this year, Then move the future JWC's to november...(sorry if that dosnt make sense, it does to me) Quote
ben23 Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I fished in both the BASS and FLW Junior World Championships last year. They were some of the best times I have ever had in my life. I fished with John Crews and got to hang out with Ike, Skeet, KVD, - you name it! For the FLW I got to meet David Dudley, fish with Art Ferguson, talk to Jay Yelas- ANOTHER amazing experience. Needless to say, hearing this news was nothing short of devastating. I know that the mere chance of fishing with KVD or Ike is what gets a lot of kids fired up to fish the JWC. With this change, the experience will not be the same at all. Yes it will be a huge tournament, but in no way comparable to the JWCs of old. I am blessed to have fished the BASS JWC when it was with the pros. I just really hope that FLW does not follow suit- and I do not think they will. The FLW went the extra mile to set up special seminars and parties for all of the junior anglers. I am glad that I only fished the FLW Junior Circuit this year- and look forward to hopefully fishing the FLW Junior World Championships. I hope they keep it up on the Junior level- they certainly better not drop the ball now. Next year I will be fishing in the Collegiate Bass fishing trail, so hopefully things keep running smoothly with that. I hope that somehow BASS does something to help those that got screwed- kids and adults. Unfortunately though, Nothing will be able to heal the wounds of ruining their shot to fish with the "real pros". Ben Dziwulski God Bless Quote

Super User 5bass Posted December 10, 2007 Super User Posted December 10, 2007 One of the big-wigs at BASS may hit the "Buy It Now" just to get that auction over with. Let's hope so. Quote
frogtog Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I e-mailed the owner of the ABA to day to see what was going on. This doesn't reflect favorably upon the ABA when something like this happens. I said this a few years back ( ESPN needs to get the heck out of bass fishing) This is not the first mistake they have made and probably not the last. I am a life member of Bass and for myself I would like to apologize to the people that were hurt by this bad decision. If I could get my membership dues back I would. Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 10, 2007 Author Super User Posted December 10, 2007 > Here's my two-cents. Self explanatory. I do not have any respect for B.A.S.S. Go to ebay and cut/paste this into the search box: Item number: 220181914962 (only cut/paste the number) Wow, that is great, I have a ton of bass stuff to get rid of, but I think a better place for it, the wood stove, dont want anyone advertising for this organization. At this weeks B.A.S.S. meeting,I'm having my name taken off all of the B.A.S.S. Clubs' rosters I belong to. Just curious, I'm not a student of the law or anything but how about a lawsuit from all of those loosing money because of this late notice? Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted December 10, 2007 Super User Posted December 10, 2007 Ike, Ishand, and Creww, and a few others said they will still be fishing with the kids. Â Â All the bashing Ike gets and he still stands up for the kids. Â Â Appears BASS anglers will voice their opinions also. Â Â Â Â Â Article on another site if you want check it out. Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 10, 2007 Author Super User Posted December 10, 2007 It's great that even B.A.S.S. Pro's such as these three have stepped up to the plate and voiced there disapproval. Hopefully ESPN/B.A.S.S. is realizing what a dumb move this is and will do something about it. I just wonder where Mr.Ray Scott is and his opinion on this???? :-? Quote
fatmanslim247 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I remember i would fish my heart out to try to go to the classic when i was in the jr. club. Im not currently in a club but screw b.a.s.s., im staying away from them. FLW will probably be where i go just b/c of this, and b.a.s.s. its starting to get the holier than though attitude that i hate with a passion.... its just sad what money does to a once great organization Quote
Bass Hole Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 This came from another site so i didn't put the link Just copied and pasted hope it's not a problem But look at the date SUBJECT: # 60626: More cuts at ESPN/BASS? Submitted by Big Red (68.207.178.65) from ALABAMA on 11/27/2007 10:14:00 PM Heard from a fairly reliable source that ESPN/BASS was considering cancelling an event associated with the 2008 Classic. It appears that this one may effect the Junior BASSMASTER's. Anyone else heard anything on this? Also, anyone notice the advertising sales positions on the masthead in the most recent (Dec '08) BASSMASTER? They don't have any sales people anymore. What the heck is going on? It's the end of November. How are you going to sell advertising for 2008 if you don't have sales people calling on accounts? This may be a serious sign that the end is near. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 10, 2007 Super User Posted December 10, 2007 Man, what a bunch of BS. Â ESPN/BASS have sunk to a new low. If you guys want to get to them don't email ESPN or BASS, email the sponsors. Â I have had experience watching funds for a Soccer and kids Basketball program get derailed and transfered to another program. Â Talking professionally to sponsors was the only way to get results. Super User 5bass Posted December 10, 2007 Super User Posted December 10, 2007 I just wonder where Mr.Ray Scott is and his opinion on this???? :-? I'm sure Ray Scott has an opinion on this but his opinion doesnt matter to ESPN....they do what they want, when they want, to who they want. In one way or the other, this move was made because of money. Money drives the ESPN bus.....if you dont believe it, look at what they did to the Majors, you know, the tournaments with no entry fees and the winner takes home $250,000....GONE! Â ESPN didnt feel that the 4 Majors were bringing in enough interest or revenue to justify putting out a total of 1 Million bucks in prize money in one season. Money. The root of all evil. Again...... Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 10, 2007 Author Super User Posted December 10, 2007 Â When it comes to the sponsers, I'm sure after seeing the attention BASS is getting these days they are just dying to hop on the bandwagon. Are they trying to make B.A.S.S. go belly-up? Or has it already???? :-? Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Maybe we can persuade RedlineRobert to stray away from the japan bass lure market and just buy B.A.S.S. from ESPN. Quote

frogtog Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Maybe we can persuade RedlineRobert to stray away from the japan bass lure market and just buy B.A.S.S. from ESPN. Sounds like a great idea to me. I think there is already two Gentleman looking at it. I don't think they can get  together on a price, so ESPN says we will dismantle it before we let you have it for that price. Just my thoughts, but keep your eyes open. Quote
Bass XL Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 It's going to come back around to them...b/c when us juniors grow up, we'll know how screwy B.A.S.S is, that nobody will want to fish with them. Quote
Garnet Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 I've spent the last couple hours reading press releases and reports about companys I/we own stock in. So I'm in press release mode. My first reading of Don's press release was budget cuts. My second reading casting kids are still going to the classic and Don and staff will be there so it's not budget cuts. Then I read the opening statement "in order to align its youth iniatives with it's grassroots Organization" If ESPN was a stand alone corp. this is a sign they are cleaning up the balnce sheet for a sale. Then the timing of this press release just before xmas, at first glance looks like a quick sweep  under the carpet. I also had email were Don said why wait. After ESPN got creamed in there last divorce with Fed Nation and had to back track. This looks like ESPNi s separating assets on a 2 year corp. agenda. The why wait looks like Don is telling the board of directors that divorce in 1 year is possible. This is the press release that I'm looking for, If I'm thinking of buying stock in this company ( value investing) I know theres lots of bad news to come and a better price is coming. If I own stock in this company and the chart was up and I'm making money it would be time to start taking profits. So my prediction is ESPN will divorce Fed Nation by Jan 1/2009 Garnet Quote

bassnleo Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I don't know when the divorce will come but it does appear like one is building.........again. I was in a B.A.S.S. federation affiliated club, actually 2 of them at one time. When the big federation split occurred one club stayed BASS the other went FLW. I stayed with the FLW affiliated club and at this point I'm glad I did. I have allowed my BASS membership to expire. Since it has expired I have received 10 letters and have received at least 5 phone calls to renew my membership. We're talking about a twenty dollar membership. Â I would agree that it's all about the dollar signs......... Quote
Bass Hole Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 So now bass is going to have the JWC at an elite series tournament we'll at least thy get to fish with a pro. still not the classic kind of like putting a band aid on a bullet wound. just like thy did two years ago with the adults. there just trying to make themselves look a little better. Yea, .....nice touch,....REBOOK YOUR TICKETS AGAIN!!!!! Honestly, I would tell this organization to pound sand by now. Why is it ok to have changed it in the 1st place? If it were me, I would get a lawyer. Honestly,...I paid "X" amount of money to compete for a prize. A chance to fish with the pros at the classic. You took my money and then changed the prize at the end of the season. Does this not ring FRAUD with anyone else??? If not, I'm running a lottery, lol. Give me $5 for a chance at 200k. Warning: I work for BASS, the prize could change later, maybe a pack of hooks or something. You may think I'm way off base but I know the RI jrs had to change all their tickets. Â THAT cost them more money. Â NOW, they don'r need tickets at all because it's within driving distance. Â 2k wasted because you changed the prize in a competition I PAID to be in. Â I would call my lawyer. > Quote
