-Drums- Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Thanks guys. For the "centering" issue. The new layout uses more width, which means for a few folks you'll need to adjust one of two things (or possibly both). 1. Way, waaaay up in the upper right corner of your browser, click the button right next to the red X (should be the middle button - looks like a square). 2. If that doesn't fix it, then right-click anywhere on a clear area on your desktop (not an icon) and select "properties" from the menu. Now click the "settings" tab. Now change the screen resolution to something OTHER than 800x600 (I recommend 1280x1024) and click "ok", then follow the instructions in the prompts. Things will seem really small to you at first, but try it out for awhile. Once you get used to it, you won't want to go back! Please note I'm working on a few glitches that affect only people who stored past personal messages, myself included. Also, please click the Help link above to learn how to use the new features. Reelmech - you're absolutely wrong. Dialup and 800x600 screen resolutions are things of the past. You're in a very small minority (about 5%). Hey Glenn, FWIW, I'm on a Mac laptop (1440x960 res) and am seeing the horizontal scrollbar issue on both Firefox 2.0 (2.0.0.11) and Safari 3.0. Also, overall the page layout looks a bit off*, which is what I believe is causing the horiz. scroll bar to show. I don't really care about Safari, but the previous version laid out perfectly in FF on the Mac. *It looks to me almost like there could be unclosed div(s) (or something like that) in the updated layout markup. Or maybe it's an odd CSS bug. I know that various iterations IE can be much more forgiving of some of these issues than Firefox or Safari (which are truly "standards compliant" browsers). Anyway, I'd be glad to provide some screenshots if you like. ~Rich Quote

Super User .dsaavedra. Posted December 16, 2007 Super User Posted December 16, 2007 i like the new layout. no problems here yet. its different but im sure i'll get used to it. Quote
surfer Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 This seams like the place to post any quirks / bugs. A small one I noticed is the all button only brings up the first page of a topic instead of all the pages like it used to. I am not experiencing the page width scroll issue though. Thanks for all the hard work Glenn. Quote

fishbear Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Glenn, You did awesome on the changes... This is absolutely fantastic. Love it. Keep up the good work. As always BR rocks due to your hard work. (and lack of sleep I am sure) Quote
SimonSays Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 I'm using Firefox also, and I don't get a horizontal scroll bar but the forums seem to be...off a bit... for example.... my resolution is 1280x1024, but don't tell me to "turn my resolution down" this is the native res of my monitors and a website should be developed for most resolutions... good job on the site also! Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 16, 2007 Super User Posted December 16, 2007 The new site looks AWESOME. I like most of the guys (and gals) here really appreciate all the hard work you;ve done for us to make the site better, newer, cooler, and easier to navigate. Like anything new, there will always be minor issues to deal with, and dealt with they will be I am sure. Thanks for all that you do for us Glenn and BR team! Quote
NJBassDevil3254 Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 This is what the guys with the scroll problem see... Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted December 16, 2007 Super User Posted December 16, 2007 i dont have to scroll side to side but it seems to take a while for the pages to load now. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted December 16, 2007 Super User Posted December 16, 2007 Where am I? : 8-) Thanks for the hard work Glenn Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 16, 2007 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 16, 2007 Firefox/Opera users, I'm aware of the issue. But please keep in mind that less than 17% of visitors here do not use IE, so the issue will be prioritized accordingly. Again, the scrolling issue is resolved by clearing your cache and restarting your browser. I do not have the time to provide computer support here. Look up "clearing cache" on Google to learn how to do it. Again, key is to close your browser and restart after clearing cache. NJBassDevil3254 - looks like you may have a Norton firewall setting that blocks ads. Nothing I can do about that here. Quote
Guest muddy Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Hey Glenn: I adjusted the pixels, I cleared the cache and i still have a space about 5 or six inches on the forums only Ther articles, Home page etc all OK . Alpster called and he had one of his computers onto IE-7 and he saw the same thing. I am sorry and not hurrying you just telling I even did all you said and a restart to no avail. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 16, 2007 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 16, 2007 I think you're seeing what you're supposed to see. The forums WILL NOT CENTER on your page any longer. They are flush right by design. See screenshot below. You should not need to scroll left-right, however. Quote
Guest muddy Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Got it !!!!! NORTON AD/ Blocker , turned it off and all is well!!!!!!!! When I come here I have to turn it off first. All I was seeing was a whited out space, so I defeated both the ad and Pop up blocker and the scroll bar dissapeared! Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted December 16, 2007 Super User Posted December 16, 2007 Muddy, add BR to your trusted site list on Norton and all will be fine. I am running IE 7 and Norton Internet Security and DSL and have no issues at all. If I knew how to take a screen shot I would show you what mine looks like. Blaine, Quote
