Favorite Bass Fishing Magazine

Just curious what your favorite bass fishing magazine is for actually learning stuff.  It seems so many magazines have turned into just one big advertisment with almost no real content.  Even the stories are just filled with guys saying the rod or bait they use is the end all for whatever your particular fishing woe is.  I want a magazine that actually teachings me something.  What do you guys think?

I like Bassin', its sort of technique specific but, kinda like them all.Anything I can find to read about bass and fishing.You have to realize that there will only be a small percent of things in these reads that could actually apply to you or the type of water you are fishing in or even the kinds of days you are fishing.You just have to try to sort it out and absorb the info.All lakes are different,as is the bass in them,and we all know too well that what works one day or week wont work the next,or what works in one lake may not work in another even if conditions are similar.

  Its all about making money,like everything,so of course all they try to do is sell you on something that will be your new miracle.I just do  my thing and use what I use,and try to keep the MONKEY off my back and not rush out and buy everything I read about.

bassin is a pretty good mag, but don't subscribe.

They have screwed up on sending me my mags.

I stopped getting them about six months ago.

I called.  they were going to look into it.  Nothing.

Sent an email, got a form email back saying I would get a personal response.

Nothing.

they suck.

They should eat nose hooked mice and die.

I like bassin but i still read Bassmasters

Bass Times, more of a newspaper but still realy like it. And I think one of the best features in both Bassmaster and FLW Outdoors is the Day on the Lake article usually every month. They take a pro and put them on a lake they have never been on before and see how he fishes it. I have learned lot from these sections, probably more than the articles.

I liked Bassin, but like Avid, they quit sending my magazines. I also get Bassmasters and In-Fisherman.

I always recommend beginning with a local publication that's centered on your home state.

In this way you'll be receiving the most useable and pointed information about your own personal niche.

What's really nice is reading the 'Where', 'When' and 'How' about lakes within easy striking distance of your home,

instead of some distant lake that's six states away. State-intensive publications, unlike National magazines

will keep you abreast of the conservation efforts in your state, changing laws, current lake levels, local tournaments,

which species are doing best on which lakes and what lakes are falling from grace and why.

            When I lived in New Jersey I subscribed to "New Jersey Outdoors"; when I lived in Georgia

it was "Georgia Sportsman" and now that I live in Florida it's "Florida Game & Fish".

Just for instance, this month's issue featured Reno Alley, a local guide on the Kissimmee chain.

I live less than 15 minutes from Camp Mack, which leads to both Lake Hatchineha and Lake Kissimmee.

Among the national magazines, the "In-Fisherman" is the clear winner for the serious angler.

It's a highly scientific, multi-species magazine that goes well beyond black bass. The magazine was sold

to Primedia in 1998, and three years later Al Lindner retired in 2001, one of the only angling writers to retire a millionaire.

The baton has been passed to Doug Stange, but not to worry, Doug maintains a tight ship and upholds the same high-standards.

            Fishing Facts" is another technical, multi-species periodical, in fact, it's the publication where

Al Lindner gained national recognition before introducing In-Fisherman (1975). Spence Petros is no longer the editor of Fishing Facts

but still writes articles for the magazine.

If there are other magazines in the same class as the In-Fishermanthey got past me

I like Bassmaster, In Fisherman, & Bassin'.  I tihnk i like Bassmaster the best because of the in depth articles for certain seasonal patterns, how certain anglers win events and what they used and how they used it.  I also like it the tips from the writers or other members about other things, rod storage, fishing tips, etc...

I subscribe to FLW, Bassmaster, and Bass Times. Of the three I like Bass Times due to their enviromental articles.

Dont read bass magazines that much any more but In fisherman was my favorite.

Lots of good ones out there.  But really, it depends on what you enjoy about bass fishing.  If you like tournament stuff, bassin is the not the magazine for you.  If you want to follow the bassmaster master tour, then bassmasters is pretty good.  

I subscribe to Bassin and I really enjoy when it comes in the mail.  As for Bassmasters....not so much!

I prefer North American fisherman magazine and In fisherman because i am kind of a tackle fanatic.

if i actually got more than one worn out, out dated issue, i would actually like it. i have to agree with avid. accept throw in some squeeze cheese to make it funnier and slower.

Definetely BassWest USA. I still read In-Fisherman and others but if you want to know what is up and coming or what's up in the big-bait world, there isn't another magazine that can touch Bass West.

For Western Bass fishing, their really is only one choice; Bass West USA. For multi-species fishing, and just fun general reading, In-Fisherman.
