I just picked up a couple Floating Crystal Minnows (F8) while they were on clearance.  I'm planning on using them in shallow water since X-Raps tend to get hung-up on the bottom where I frequently fish.

Any tips on using the Crystal Minnows?

Should I pick up more if I still find them at $3.97?

Thanks :D

I have 2 crystal minnows I bought for $7.99 each and have never caught any thing on them. My advice is to use them where you dont want to loose your good stuff.

Hmm...

That's probably why you haven't caught any fish on the lure.

Buy a lure retriever, they're cheap and VERY effective.

They work pretty good in shallow situations like you are describing.  I always have one in my box and there are times when a floating jerkbait will outperform a suspending one.  I've also had luck twitching them on the surface.  $3.97 is a good price but I wouldn't "stock up" on them.  Wait to see you you really like the bait first.

For  some reason my crystal minnows wouldnt swim straight. No matter what I did they would lay on their sides. Some lures you almost want to loose!

Thanks, one other question... Is the Crystal Minnow better as a jerkbait or on a more steady retrieve with occasional twitches.

I have 8 floating Crystal Minnows I bought 10 years ago for $2.50 each when they hit the market and I use them for jerk bait fishing.  Very effective.  The 4" is a killer as a jerk bait above emerging grass.
