Can't see any practical applications for using a pendulum cast for Bass fishing. The only circumstances that I know of are in Surf Casting in the salt. My dad uses a 1 piece, 11ft  Lamiglass surf casting rod that was built for him specifically for distance casting. We're talking about around 300 yards here.... Just my .02.

I've never done that but maybe you are trying to learn if you are a shore fishing trying to cast into the surf or to a dam.  I'm guessing if your near a dam or on the side of the water I just have a feeling that when you try that you will slip like that one guy in the video and you would slide into the water.

Please elaborate a little more about this. What kind and weight of line?? What weight of Lure?? What kind of reel???

I have never heard of anything tossed with a fishing rod going the distance of 3 football fields.

I have now! I did some more surfing for the Pendulum cast and found more info on it. Here is a link to a guy throwing it.

I 80% of casts i make are what i call a pendulum cast on a 7' or less rod (mostly spinning) where i just move the lure away and towards me like a pendulum and then release it at an optimum point i like it a  lot for target casting

We use a pendulum cast from the piers here on the coast with a king mackerel rig.  I have a 12ft  Tica, with a penn squidder reel. We use about 17-20# test and a 6-8 oz anchor weight.
