I'm going to try to standardize on one craw bait for texas rigging. Have come down to the 5" Net Bait Paca Craw or Strike King's Rage Craw.

I notice that the Paca Craw is hollow. Is that a benefit?

Which do you prefer and why?

Thanks!

I have never really fished craws to often and it is something that I am planning on fishing more often this year. I have fished the paca craws in the past but since fishing the rage craws I have found that I liked them much better.

As far as the craw being hollow I think that this feature provides certain benefits but like anything else it also has it's drawbacks. First of all it allows for easy insertion of a tube rattle or tube jig. Second the hollow body also traps a certain amount of air which is gradually released as the bait falls to the bottom. Last but not least, Their is a lesser amount of plastic to compress during a fish bite.

As for durability, I would tend to think that a hollow plastic would tear more easily and need to be replaced more often. Like I said I have not fished them often but this has been my experience.

I personally love the rage craws and have had good luck with them. I have not had to replace them as often and I really like the action that the craws have when moving through the water. I also like running them across the top of the water as well and have read a few different articles that people have wrote about where that has worked very well for them.

It really depends on what your personal preference is though and what you are looking for. Good luck to you.

Paca Craw, I have been fishing them for two years and it seems to catch bigger fish. I guide at night and last year it boated a 7 lb,er. And it being hallow is a plus because if you have it riggerd as T-rig or a C-rig it will start to float up and the claws will float and move around like a craw trying to defend itself.

I am not putting down the Rage but for me I like the Paca!

PS. The Paca is hallow but has a solid body on the tail that is about a in. long.

If I remember correctly, they also send you free stuff.

So, if you throw a weightless paca craw it will eventually float to the surface?

Paca Craw unless you've got money to burn and like using a new bait after every fish.

Just as an FYI, Burley exaggerates at times.   ;D

I haven't fished the craw by itself, but as a jig trailer they are no less durable than a paca chunk.

I never tryed it weightless, all I was trying to say was that the claws and the head part are more boyant.

well I have used both and caught tons of fish on both brands but....

here is a trick i learned with the rage craws.... if you have a cooler in your boat throw the pack of rages in there and they will get hard and they wont tear as easy when catching fish.... the pacas nothing bad to say about them at all....they just catch fish...

i like both really and i also like the 2 sizes the the paca craw comes in..

I have tried them both and the Paca is just better all around. I won't buy any more Rage craws.

Honestly the Paca craw works but I just didnt get a good feel for it Texas rigged maybe because it has some hollow parts.  I suggest if you use it you go up just one size in worm weight.  The Rage rocks Texas rigged but it did tear up a little more often from hits or devbris.  If I had to go to a toury right now I would go with the rage .
