Little_Minnow Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I am about to walk out the door to my firts "real" bass fishing trip in years. I amjust coming back to fishing and have not seriously gone in over 20 years. I have been reading up on this forum, my gear is ready, and I am beyond excited. I will let you know how it goes. Josh BTW I am going out on Eagle Mountain Lake in Fort Worth Texas. It is 40 degrees but supposed to get into the mid 70s. I am going out on a boat and the weather is supposed to be clear with just a light breeze. Thanks everyone. Quote

Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted November 17, 2007 Super User Posted November 17, 2007 I wish I was going with you. It's 34* with a high of 38*. Chance of rain/snow mix today. No bass fishing for me for a few months. Hope you have a banner day. Falcon Quote

Little_Minnow Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 My report: The score is large mouth bass 1.....fisherman 0. I caught three small sand bass early in the morning on a popper close to the shoreline. After that I went into a cove and tried throwing a jig and pig with no luck. Finally I moved to a long rock wall surrounding a marina and tried throwing a worm onto the rocks and jigged it back to the boat...again with no luck...at that time the wind was picking up pretty good so I moved inside the marina and tried throwing a jig up into the boat slips with no results. I have to say being new at this is very frustrating when you really have no idea where to start or what to do. I can also say that it was still a really great day with one of my friends on the lake. We had a blast and can not wait to go back to it. I told him about this website and we are both going to be reading up and asking questions until the next time. I really appreciate everyones input here and thank you fro all the kind words. God Bless Josh p.s. Any advice for next time would be greatly appreciated:) Quote

Super User Gatorbassman Posted November 17, 2007 Super User Posted November 17, 2007 A wise bassfisherman once told me. "When you get to a new lake and don't have a clue where to start. Fish 10 main lake points first then fish points from the opening to 1/3 of the way into creeks and large coves." This has always worked for me. Bass love points. You can almost always find bass on at least one out of 10 points fished. Quote
dbass Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 The water is starting to cool down, so no matter your presentation you slow down. Don't be in a hurry, not at this time of year (if you think your fishing to slow, slow down some more). Cooling water will have the bass bunching up in/on sunlit banks, rocks, and tree falls (shadow side) just on the edges, of deeper water (creek channels, etc.). On sunlit wind blown banks/points, fish the eddy (slack water) side. Thats how it is here on my home waters. Just my .02¢ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!! Quote
L-Train Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Little Minnow, PM me. I have been fishing since I was a kid. And I have been serious bass fishing for the last 6 or so years. And I am just down the road from you. I live in Euless. I can show you a few things. I am usually out on Lewisville. I'll take you out sometime. It probably won't be until after christmas. I have a tournament the first two weekends of December, and I'll be out of town all of Thanksgiving. So if you are up for some cold weather fishing I'll probably have a back seat. Do you know Texas_Boy? I am going to take him out sometime too. Maybe we can all 3 go out, and i'll show yall some stuff. Quote
