Some of us catch our largest fish in the middle of the day. Â : The best time for BIG bass is between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. 8-) Quote
pondhopper Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 A search of this site with yield a quality answer to any bass angling question. This truly is the ultimate resource. Quote
Tpayneful Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I read a comment on here by Road Warrior about fishing the Senko. Â He said that he fishes them "slow and on the bottom". Â I had been using them primarily with a lift and drop method and sometimes as a jerkbait. Â I used his technique on Friday at lunch and caught my longest documented fish to date. Â 22 inches long and 13 inches around. Â I didn't have a hand scale so I couldn't accurately weigh the fish. Â I stepped on a scale with and without the fish and it measured 4lbs. Â Thank you Roadwarrior for the tip! Here is the fish! Quote
Super User Catt Posted October 2, 2007 Super User Posted October 2, 2007 Like everyone else there are so many things I've learned; from Glenn & the Moderators down to the newest newbie. On the subject of fishing: Senkos, Carolina Rigs, Crank Baits, & one of my first discussions it was about the mind set of catching big bass. He that never changes his opinions, never corrects his mistakes, and will never be wiser on the morrow than he is today. Quote
jb_adams Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I think we all have our favorite members that we know we can count on for good advice and they all come with years of experience to back it up. Â Mostly, I'd like to thank BassResource.com for offering a place where us "glassy-eyed" bass addicts can learn from each other. Â This site introduced me to my fishing partner and new best friend..."Jolicious" (BassResource.com member). Â We sent a few PM's because we were both in the same regional area. Â I later went fishing with him & his son one day and the rest is history. Â We've been good friends now for about 1.5-2 years now and we fish every chance we can get. For that, I am very greatful. Â Fishing with a friend is even better than fishing alone. Â Who else can witness your screw-ups and your success? As far as no. tip I learned as a newbie would be color selection. Â I just wasn't getting it and now it's second nature to me. Â There are too many members to give credit for way too many questions from me alone! (haha) Â I'd have to say that I personally believe LBH, Avid, RW, Rolo, Raul, ReelMechanic, Fish Chris, & so many others have all personally helped me become a better angler. Â Everyone here is a contribution and equally important. So thanks BassResource.com for being such an awesome group of folks! Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted October 2, 2007 Author Posted October 2, 2007 Â This site introduced me to my fishing partner and new best friend... Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Why LBH.... you taught me how to catch fish on a jig lol. Â I remember seeing your swimming jig video a year or two back and being awestruck that the darned things actually catch fish. Â A few emails later, and you had me on my first jig fish. Â Now people PM me for jig advice lol. Â So yeah, thanks for introducing me to the one lure that has become my confidence bait and tournament killer lol Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 2, 2007 Super User Posted October 2, 2007 This thread was a great idea Russ.....its turned out real well. Â Quote
Super User Alpster Posted October 2, 2007 Super User Posted October 2, 2007 It's hard to pick out a #1 because I feel like I pick up something useful nearly every time I log on. Where else can you take advantage of literally 1000s of years of experience in one place. Thanks to all of you! Ronnie Quote
foul hooked Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I've learned that there is no substitute for quality gear and that quality gear can be had at affordable price points. The Bait Monkey err, I mean Raul is responsible for this. Quote
LCpointerKILLA Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Learned that I WAS using the palm tree right!!! haha thanks roadwarrior Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted October 2, 2007 Super User Posted October 2, 2007 Biggest thing I learned this year was not setting the hook so hard while fishing jigs. Â My landing ratio while fishing a jig has went from about 60% to about 90%. Â Both LBH and RW chimed in this past spring when I was having this problem. Â Thanks Guys!!! Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted October 2, 2007 Super User Posted October 2, 2007 I've learned that there is no substitute for quality gear and that quality gear can be had at affordable price points. The Bait Monkey err, I mean Raul is responsible for this. That's funny because Raul is responsible for coining the term "Bait Monkey". Quote
koko36265 Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 What a Fat Ika was from RW... Man those things are killer.....I was sold on them when I was fishing a 6 ft. hump with some cut timber.... I started with a 10.5" zoom big ole worm and got nothing.. Switched to the Fat Ika  faded Watermelon color and caught 8  bass ranging from 1 to 4.5 lb from the same hump, most being around 2.5 lbs..... I mean as fast as I threw it out there wham, they would hit it... It was awesome because the guy I was fishing with couldn't figure out why I was catching so many and he was getting nothing... Being the friend I am though I let him in on the secret and we went on to catch about 30 that day Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 LBH for showing me the way into the secret spot, and giving me tips on the jig. Â Quote
moby bass Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 The one thing I learned is... this is without a doubt, the greatest bass/fishing learning tool on the entire web. Â And thanks everyone for the help, tips, guides, and resources provided. I'm catching more fish and having more fun! Quote

skillet Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Â Apologize for not being able to narrow it down to "one thing learned" :-[. Have learned really important things from Glenn and the mods. all the way to some of the newest folks posting here. Thanks to all of ya'll ... Bass_Akwards Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 If you guys go back and read all of my posts, which isn't many, perhaps 60 or so, and then read the replies, you'd have an entire, amazing fishing book, to become at very least, an intermediate level fisherman. Â Absolutely amazing info guys! I tried very hard to come up with one thing I've learned from this board and it's highly respected members, that I felt was most important, but just couldn't do it. Â One thing led to another, and then another, and then another. Â I guess what that tells me is this. The most important thing I learned here, is the fact that fishing is a super complex cocktail of many things. Â It's about having a vast knowlege of a particular species of fish, by fishing hard and studying hard about it. Â It's about taking the time to read, and listen, to the great fishermen on this board. Â Learning about baits, weather conditions, retrievs, water conditions and much much more. Â It's not just about bass either. Â It's about having experience and knowlege of the very complicated suroundings and environments in which bass live in. Â What I've learned mostly from this board however, is that fishing is all about having fun. Â It's about camaraderie. Â Fishing, like this board, is all about community, family, and sharing knowlege, that can be handed down from one angler to another, and one generation to another. Thanks for all the help! t Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted October 8, 2007 Super User Posted October 8, 2007 After hanging around here for the last year or so, I have learned so much from the members and the articles that there is simply no way to thank everyone who has been instrumental in my education process.
