Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 The problem I have is my 2 PB 12-7 and 10-2 I dont have any pictures of them of :'( :'(.I was all alone and didnt have a camera.I then opted to just let the fish go and not harm them. My biggest was on a Rapala fat rap and it was a fluke, sort of. It was about 60 degrees out and windy(bad in florida!) and I was getting frustrated from all the wind and cleaning weeds off my crank.I then hurled a super long cast out to the middle of the lake behind me and cranked as fast as I could out of frustration.I nevr knew what hit me when I thought I snagged a log somehow 6 feet down over top of 15 feet of open water. No its moving! ITS A GIANT CATFISH! OH GREAT! Sooo I started to horse it,then it jumped. I almost passed out and my heart stopped when it jumped. 12-7 and 27.5 inches,21 girth.I am from Ohio originally and my pb there 5-8 HAHA One lesson is: These lunkers tend to strike at the most in-opportune times or when you very least expect it. KevO Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 I caught my biggest bass TODAY! She was 19 1/2 in and fat. Weighed in at 5.25lb. I also caught 8 smaller ones... 1 3lber, 3 other keepers and 4 dinks . It was a great 3 hours! Quote
lineman Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 well i agree it happens when you least expect it... about 10 yrs ago I was on a small lake in il. we used to beat up after school.. it happend when i got tired of beating the banks with jig and pork and i just wanted to cast somthing for a while to break up the monotony. I tied on the big nasty, crawdad collered crankbait my dad gave me while swearing it was a bass slayer, I new he was just getting rid of his old junk! I made a few long cast parrellel to the bank and just as i came acrossed an old cottonwood tree in the water I hooked the biggest bass i had ever seen!!! it was around 7 lbs... and i was about to %$#* a brick. It was mid winter and just a nasty day to be on the water but I just couldint leave after than so we fished on about a quarter mile down the bank and i agian was geting board knowing that the days highlight had come and gone... i hooked another monster about the same size!!!! my dad and dink just happened to see jammes and I being pulled around the lake in my little plastic boat and came over to see the fish. Not only did i catch my two biggest fish that day I got to do it in front of my dad and my two best friends!! We still tell the story on cold winter days when the winter wind is goin right threw you. Remember that day when....... Quote
armesjr Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 The fish in my avatar 6lbs and 23.5 inches on a Fat Ika Green with black flake Quote
Fish Chris Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 <---------------- Not my biggest, or even my second biggest. This 15.8 was actually my third biggest, but probably my best photo of a big bass, or should I say, one which shows the size the best. I was never really happy with the photos of my 18.4 lb PB, but the lesson I learned was, to always take "at least a few photos, of myself, by myself". I have this trick down, and then I don't have to rely on someone who might have no clue with fish photos.... or even cameras, for that matter. Anyway...... She was 29 1/2"L X 24.5"G Peace, Fish PS, But hey, since I know some of you might consider this one a bigger deal, here's my 8.5 lb Smallie from earlier this year :-) Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 NOT REALLY HAPPY and 18.4 should not be allowed in the same sentence. lol Quote
tntitans21399 Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 First year, my two biggest were last spring right at dark so I couldn't get a good pic of them with my phone. But they were 2 hybrid (cherokee bass) and one broke a 10-15lbs test fishing pole when I was reaching to grab him, but I was able to grab him so he wasn't lost. He about the length of my arm (maybe a little less)(I'm 6ft tall), and it hook both hands to hold him. I have no idea about his weight, I'll so 50lbs (haha), but I have no idea, next time I'll have to remember to weight him. They should be bitting again soon. Here is a pic of my 3rd best. Smallmouth. Super User WRB Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 Both the 18.4 FLMB and 8.5 SMB are giant bass that you should be proud of and few bass fisherman will ever achieve, congratulations. My PB LMB is few ounces heavier and the picture a lot worse and PB smallie isn't worth mentioning. To see the LMB you can visit TBH site, search "monster" under general discussion, "Oldschool's MONSTER largemouth. I don't know how to post the picture. WRB aka, Oldschool. TBH http://www.thebass-holes.com/ (deletet the -) bassin-forms/index.php?topic=1681.0 appologize if this link upsets anyone. Quote

BackOnTheWater Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 7 lbs even...avatar photo. I was alone...another one of THOSE cam-phone pics. I caught it this past August on a c-rigged craw and 2/0 hook. Quote
Fish Chris Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 I just mean to say, I wasn't really happy with the "photos of" the 18.4. I was pretty darn stoked about the fish :-) Although I truly believe I will catch a bigger one someday. As I trophy hunter, I think you have to believe this, as this is what keeps you going back. For the moment though, it's that 40.0 lb plus Striper that I can't stop dreaming of :-) Peace, Fish Quote

Wayne Thanks, it was a scanned photo that a passerby sent me and need to rescan it on my home computer. TBH site is free, good information to check and a few In-Fisherman articles on lake Isabella and jig fishing several years ago that may also be of interest on giant bass fishing. Tom Quote
