First time I had this happen.Thing was I got the first one halfway to the boat and the second one smacked it and tried to steal it

I caught this double June 1st out of Occoquan Creek on the Potomac River. They both hit a Bandit footloose in about 3 foot of water. It was about 20' off a lily pad line in sparse grass on an outgoing tide. I got the bite and at first I thought it was big and then I mentioned to my partner that it just felt strange.  They were actually twirling back to the boat.  It happened during a little pot luck tournament that we had between 6 guys in our office. I killed em that day. I caught over 30 largemouth but only 4 broke the 15" minimum limit. I think the four bass weighed 9lbs, 12oz. It was the best day that I have had fishing and my partner swears it was the best day that he has seen anyone have fishing.

I've come close but no cigar on a few occassions. The other bass is usually of about the same size and it is trying to "get in" on the action of the bass that is hooked. Those are both great picts.

Here, in the fall (right about NOW! Like, this weekend, I hope!), the bass congregate on the shad in sometimes HUGE numbers. I've sat in the middle of boils 1/2 the size of a football field. You can catch a bass almost every cast, and I've had more than the occasional day where 2 people could put 100-150 bass in the boat in a matter of hours. They are generally under 2 pounds unless you run something under the smaller fish at the top of the school, but you can wear yourself out on them. I've had numerous "doubles" and two "triples" (both on big jerk baits with 3 trebles) over the years (one of the fish on one of the triples got off at the boat, though).

Yes had this happen several times.  Most commonly with smallies.  Smallies in pack form will follow a hooked fish to the boat and sometimes try to steal the bait from the hooked fish.  It is always fun.

A few years back I caught two little 12 inch keepers on a lucky craft pointer 78. My personal favorite was at a little private farm pond, I gave my little brother a little trout hook and some meal worms to catch sunfish on. He is reeling in his first sunny and a 3 and a half pound largemouth just comes out of no where and eats the sunfish. Some how the bass got hooked and on a little ultra-light set-up with 4 pound test, thats a fun battle  That was acctually his first bass too.

I watched some Bass fishing show a couple of months ago and that almost happened to the host.  He said he has caught numerous fish like that and that Smallmouth Bass are known to do that.  He said they will to take away a easy meal from another fish if they can, and that's when you usually get two.  I'm waiting for it to happen to me, I would think I struck gold if I caught 2 fish on the same hook.

Back in the day, I used to fly fish for trout almost every day.  Typically, I would be fishing three flies on a dropper leader and one day I hooked two of the buggers at once.

I almost fell in the water laughing at these two fish swimming in opposite directions w/ my leader in between them.

O YA! The 2007 Classic,  Timmy Horton hooked 2 four-pound spots on a Excalibur lipless crank. Think its on you-tube somehwere. Craziest part is he flipped them into the boat!

About 15 yrs. ago i caught a 15.5" and a 14" lm on a big-o. Last year i caught a 12" lm on a dropshot, and while bringing it in, a big (over 30") pike grabbed him sideways. My buddy was getting my camera ready while i delicately tried to get both up to the surface without pulling the pike off. I got it close to the surface, the picture was snapped and the pike let go. That poor bass was ripped from back to belly on one side, still breathing, and NOT bleeding. I slipped it back in the water, and it swam off...

I was fishing with a buddy of mine one day.  I was throwing a worm at some brush and he was winging a crankbait athe same area.  I felt a tap and went on point.  A split second before I swung his rod loads up and we swing simultaneously..... on the same fish.  This fish had both baits in its mouth... one in each side.  I have never even heard of this happening before or after I had done it.  It still blows my mind ten years later.

Now that is truly amazing.I dont think anyone could have even thought of it unless it really happened.Great stuff man. I think Ill try this trick sometime

WOW...that is amazing...I guess that puts a cap on this thread! Were you guys able to pick yourselves up off the deck and fish any more, or did you just roll around laughing the rest of the day?

I think that bass was trying to tie your lines together and got caught. ;D
