Guest avid Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I've been forced away from our shared passion for sometime now due injury and subsequent surgery. Now that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (4 weeks and counting) I can feel the excitement starting to arise inside me. I've been cleaning reels, trickle charging the tm batteries, organizing my tackle. You guys with closed seasons or harsh winters know what I'm talking about. Anyway, I've recently contacted Whittler. He will be making me a couple of custom crankbaits that I will take with me when doc gives me the green light to fish. I'm like a school kid. I'm that excited. for you folks out there who are new to the site. BASSRESORCEDOTCOM truly has it all. Avid has spoken Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 5, 2007 Super User Posted October 5, 2007 Hey Buddy! I know how excited you are, but DO NOT push it. those Florida bass will still be their waiting for you in another week or two. You have come to far to risk reinjury with an early start. Just be sure you're ready and ease back in, please! Oops, I forgot...you already have a wife. Anyhow, be cool, be careful and be smart. 8-) Quote
Bassboy15 Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Gaw, with school I haven't fished in about 4 weeks either..I feal your pain :-/ Bad thing for me is, I have an offseason, and it's coming up... Quote
Guest avid Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Oops, I forgot...you already have a wife. Yep, and not just ANY wife, thank you very much. Mine is a Jewish Psychologist from Brooklyn with a tatoo fetish no less Oh, the Humanity!!! P.S. Thank you sir for the admonition not to rush it. I truly do need to be reminded that "easy does it" when it comes to Bass fishing Quote
Super User grimlin Posted October 5, 2007 Super User Posted October 5, 2007 I know how you feel avid.We have the off seasons here as well.So i know how it feels to not fish for awhile. Quote
stansdwarf8 Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Too bad your wife can't fix your old body!!! You could be doing alot more fishing. As soon as you are able, call me and I will help you break in that newly repaired shoulder - again. Fishing here in the ridge area should be picking up by then. Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Well due to the deployment, I had a 6month break from fishing until leave, which was in april. I haven't seen a pole, lure, or any other tackle since then, so another six months there. Yeah...I feel you're pain...and I'm not talking about any surgeries. Unless they are back, lung, or TBI related. Might have a few nasty appointments when I get back to the states...all which will raise my pension when I get out next august I'm dying to get back on the water. I'll be getting back late in the year, so it will be a crappy time to try to get back onto the patterns. I'll be sticking to smaller lakes until the spawn. Once the spawn (and tax returns hit) I'll be going back to the big lakes...stillhouse, belton, fork, amistad, and choke canyon until I get out. Yeah...I'm excited Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Getting that school boy excitement in the spring is why I don't mind living up north. I love it! It doesnt hurt that I have relatives in FL. lol Hey man, as hard as it is take it slow like these guys said. It would really suck to have to take an extended vacation or even worse a permanent vacation from fishing. Good luck! Quote

stansdwarf8 Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 If you want, you can come over and watch me fish. At least you would be close to fishing. I won four until the first of July when we went on vacation - what a blast! You get well real soon and maybe we will make to Crooked - you will fall in love with that lake. Hope to see you soon. We could go out now and I could cast it out, set the hook, and reel it in for ya. How about that!! Quote
Red Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 yeah i will know that feeling soon...kinda...my new job will have me working later and i wont get home till about 6pm...by the time i get home, get my stuff, drive to the fishin spot...it would be dark...so my fishing will be limited to weekends starting this onday....but on the plus side, i have a better job, more money, overtime, work and not sitting on my duff all day, and two weeks paid vacation after one year!!!
