Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted January 29, 2009 Super User Posted January 29, 2009 Anyone remember the Burke talkin frog? Made a battery powered croaking noise when it got wet. : Quote
Primus Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I'm surprised the SK King Shad was mentioned, I've caught some nice 4 & 5lbers on this bait along with a 39" Northern Pike. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted January 29, 2009 Super User Posted January 29, 2009 Back when the first LP reels came out in the early 80's, I bought one of the first Bass Pro Shops "branded" reels. It was an LP reel made by Quick. Quick at the time was most noted for making Saltwater equipment. The first reel was broken in the box. The replacement broke on the first fishing trip. I refused another replacement and traded up to a Garcia. I also swore off BPS reels for quite a few years after that. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 29, 2009 Super User Posted January 29, 2009 Chalk-up another one for the Storm soft swimbaits. I can't catch a cold with those things. Falcon Quote
Super User CWB Posted January 29, 2009 Super User Posted January 29, 2009 Storm Kickin' Slab. Looked to be the perfect bait for springtime bass feeding on small 'gills. great finish and looked to be well made. I bough 4 of them 2 years ago. Still trying to get one to run straight. If I ever do, lookout! Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted January 29, 2009 Super User Posted January 29, 2009 A Castiac(sic) swimbait that I paid 18.98 for back in 1991. Have never had a bite on it and it seems to show up every time I open one of my Plano boxes. Like it moves around during the night so I will see it and be reminded of how wasteful I was. Quote
fathom Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 5 lb. muskie spinnerbait. had a spinner the size of a vw hubcap with a trailer that looked more like a raccoon's tail. and even tho the closest muskie to me is right at 1100 miles away, at the time, it made perfect sense for me to have that bait. Pitchinkid Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Helicopter lure. Though i did catch a rockbass on it in a creek behind my parents house. Flying lure was awesome. Pitch it at the edge of some pads and watch it glide in. id like to have some about 9-10 inchs long.i think it would be sweet Quote
jimmieO Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 "*ALL TIME LOW PRICE! GET THEM BEFORE THEY FLY AWAY AND YOU MISS THAT BIG FISH!*" Quote
farmpond1 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 It has to be those bargain bin generic hard baits I got at Wally world. They had lovely finishes but they also possess the action of a wet piece of kleenex. I don't think flying lures are all that bad. I think they would work pretty well to provoke a strike from inactive or post-cold front bass. I do hate infomercials as much as the next guy, however. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 29, 2009 Super User Posted January 29, 2009 I recently purchased some P-Line CX Premium to try. The_Natural recommended it and I trust his judgement. I bought #6 for spinning tackle, but the line that was meant to be suggested was higher test for baitcasting, I think? Anyhow, after I spooled the line up, I tied on a jig to test it out. The line broke when I pulled the knot taunt. I then wrapped some around both hands...and broke it by hand! What was really dumb, I got so mad I threw it away instead of taking it back! :-X Quote
Branuss04 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Fourbizzs' Old Boat!!!! Lol whats the story there? I bought his old P.O.S. that had been sitting in a field for a year or so. It was in pretty bad shape. Rusty and bent trailer. The carpet was coming up, so he put about 200 staples randomly in the floor to try to keep it down, but It just tore around the staples, so you really couldn't walk on it without shoes. Just a general overall money pit. I fixed it up and it's a bass fishing machine now. The worst part is I now have a boat so I have to take him fishing all the time. : Quote
Matt 825 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I had all the TV baits. Banjo minnow worked great for me, so did the flying lure. The hellicopter lure was pretty bad. Recently I bought some of the Bass Professor plastic snakes. Never used them, but I wish I could have that $ back. LOL Quote
Mr.Twister Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I know some of y'all mentioned the helicopter lure, But a couple years ago, opening day for Lg.mouth, Harsens Island,Mich (in Lk St clair) in the flats in the pencil reeds.. That lure totally slayed em. The whole week we were out there we just killed em. We even had guys pull over to us and ask what we were using cause it was like every cast we had one. We told them what we were using and they laughed and said " no, seriously..) They didnt believe us.....2yrs later, same place, same time, same lure. NADA. We couldnt even pay for a bite. We were sighting them, but to no avail. The senko came out and...whamo, bass galore.... My dumb purchase after that fiasco....the swimmin eel :-[ : :'( Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 29, 2009 Super User Posted January 29, 2009 P-line Flouroclear in 6# - junk. Some Plano tackle bag/backpack thing - never got used to it. Berkley Tec Hook sharpener - plain old hook stone works better. Gulp! Floating Nightcrawlers - repels most fish. Boo-Yah Swim Jigs - they work, I still feel duped. Terminator Football Jigs - unbelievable sticking power, as in stuck in rocks, LOL. Quote
jimmieO Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 Bill Dance dancing buzz I saw that thing and I thought it was a novelty.....like something to hang on the wall ;D ;D ;D ;D Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Any Matzuo crankbaits. Complete Trash. Every single one of them. Okuma Spinning Reels. Every one of them have fallen apart after 1 season. Any Mann's crankbaits. Every Baby Minus bait I have ever bought has broken. Gulp! Catches everything but bass. Helicopter Lure. Catches nothing including bass. Hank Parker's/Mann's Undulater Lure. Nice and shiny waste of $5. Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Berkley Realistix Minnow. Want to know what they are, well you can do a google search to get a pic, but as far as the feel to them, let me explain.... Picture taking a solid stick about 4 - 4 1/2 inches in length, that has the width a hair less then a straw. And then covering that stick in a 1/4 of an inch of soft plastic that is is shiny due to holographic design. That is what the Berkley Realistix Minnow feels/looks like. Quote
dave Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I can't remember what they are called but it is a hard body bait with a tail that flap on the surface of the water everytime you pop it. I also got drug into buying the frog that has kicking legs when you pop it as well. ;D Power Pak Quote
Stasher1 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Guilty on the Dancin' Eel and the flying lures. But I must say, I caught a few fish of the Flying Lures. Yup, me too. I bought three of the stupid things and never even got a nibble. Sometimes I think Bill Dance needs his @$$ kicked. > Quote
Bass Dude Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 [quote author=596E79747776727770762C2C180 Gulp! Catches everything but bass. Quote
mrbassky Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I didnt buy it but my I got a $10 motolure for christmas. Its a topwater chugger that you pull the string on the front when you cast and it shakes when it hits the water. I guess grandma thought if Chuck Woolery said it was good it had to be. She bought 2 my cousin got one in a different color. http://www.motolure.com/motochug.php I still have it and its very funny to me. Quote
