Storm swimbaits would have to be my most recent waste of money, with the exception of the Kickin' Minnow. I love this bait!

I bought a bunch last year for muskie fishing including the Giant Kick'n Slab.  I threw it one day, people probably thought I was actually casting a 10" crappie around the lake. I'm surprised I didn't get turned in for fish cruelty! HA HA!

I don't remember the name of it, but it was the yellow Kevlar line.  That crap sucked!  I admit that I did buy the helicopter lure and did catch a 4 lb bass using the white one as a topwater. :D

Actually, the dumbest thing I ever bought was a scale.  All my fish got smaller after that.

I have to admit some of the Storm swimbaits as well.  Also, a selection of

odd jerkbaits, and some assorted plastics.  This year, I plan to take some of that stuff and throw them into the nastiest, gnarliest areas I can find, hoping to lose them and lighten my load.  With my luck, that would be the stuff I'd never lose.  ;D

I'm surprised that so many people are mentioning the storm swimbaits. The 3 and 4 inch swim shads in the pearl and shad colors are some of my best producers. I will admit that I bought a pack of the 5 inchers in perch that I haven't caught anything on so far, but I remain optimistic that they will produce some bigguns in the right situation.

My dumbest tackle purchase was probably when I was 12 or so, and first started getting into bass fishing somewhat seriously. I would read articles in bassmaster and other magazines and get convinced that i needed a separate combo for every lure in my box. Being 12, i didn't have a lot of money, but I spent my birthday money on 4 combos from kmart for about $20 each. I actually still use and like the ultralight i got back then, and my girlfriend, who is new to fishing, uses the zebco 33 i bought (when the magazines talked about baitcasting, i thought it meant the same as spincasting, it was a couple years later that i realized the difference). But other than those two things, all the other stuff got upgraded within a year or two when I had a little more money to work with and realized quality>quantity. These relics of my fishing past now collect dust in the corner of my bedroom.

Dumbest purchases for me are all the things I haven't used yet. Sitting at home collecting dust and have never seen water. Second dumbest purchases is not catching bass on baits that have seen water.

Every week I go fishing, I use the same color green pumpkin senkos and shallow cranks. I manage to do well so I haven't really tried any other baits. So what is the problem here? I continue to buy crankbaits because they look so pretty! Less than 25% of my stuff have been put to use.

The Banjo Minnow worked for me.  Just hated the hassle you had to go through.  I also did OK with the Flying Lure.  Both were gifts from my grandmother who got caught watching late night infomercials.

The Helicopter Lure was a different story.  <--- My dumbest purchase.

Luck ''E'' Strike Bass Magic Swimbaits. You have to burn them to get any action. And they smell like a chemical factory. Never caught anything on them

I love these things!!!!!!!!!!!

Probobly the most durable soft swimbait ever!!!!!!!!!

The Banjo minnow and that shad swimbait from NGC sports.   Had some decent action but it was freakin junk, built horribly

pflueger echelon spinning combo. got and thought wow! smooth spinning reel and light rod for 40 bux! tip broke off rod 3rd cast, and the reel sqweeks and wobbles so much now you would think i was strangling a rat. that and falcon flipping jigs. cant catch a single fish on em. oh well. they snag easy enough.  ;D

I'd have to say that some of the most hated things on here have treated me pretty well.  I bought a banjo minnow kit long ago and have caught quite a few bass on it.  I've never used a slug-go so maybe they are comparable.  I've had the kit for years so I'd say it has paid for itself.

I also like berkley gulp! products as well as storm soft plastics.  The one that is shaped like a grub on a jig head (I can't remember the name of it) has done really well for me.

My worst purchase is allowing the baitmonkey to make me buy crankbaits.  I've only ever caught one fish on a crank and yet I have a ton of the things that have never been casted.

The $400 I just dropped on *** at 1am, even though I'm broke?  :-/

They lure me in with this college discount, then the baitmonkey strikes! At least now I have a PFD.

To all you haters of the chatterbait... Have you tried fishing them at night? I definitely had great results with a pure white one (i mean I had outfished my buddies like 10:1 and was pulling a bass outta lily pads in a cove like every 3rd cast for like 15 mins... one of my most memorable fishing experiences ever ;D)

But yea, those storm swimbaits, I mean they def look good with that holographic finish in bluegill which are the primary baitfish up in the ponds and lakes i fish but never got ONE with em. Could never get em to run true either. At least now i know what NOT to buy anymore :D
