Super User T-rig Posted July 31, 2007 Super User Posted July 31, 2007 I caught this bass today that had most of it's topjaw missing! This must be a very old injury since it was perfectly healed. I wonder how this guy survived! Besides that, the fish was pefectly healthy and fat and put up a hell of a fight for a 2lber.! Quote
Guest ncbass24 Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 All of the bluegill in our pond our like that, We think its hereditary. I've never seen a bass like that though. :-? Quote
Super User David P Posted July 31, 2007 Super User Posted July 31, 2007 Looks like the bass had a Hair lip. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted July 31, 2007 Super User Posted July 31, 2007 Well, ive never seen one like that. But I caught one earlier this year that wasn't straight. Seriously, the fish had two bends in the tail portion of his body. Go figure. Quote

TI_Bassin Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Last year I caught one like that. Mine was only about 12 inches so he was still young and the injury was completely healed. He looked healthy besides missing his upper lip. Quote

I agree with you that with that fish it was an old injury, I was just saying that every single bluegill in our pond has some deformity of the mouth. Quote

bubbler Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 icought a fish like that but u couyld tell that the fish's lipe had been ripped off Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 23, 2007 Super User Posted September 23, 2007 yeh my guess is that some jackass hooked that bass right thru the jaw bone, and since it dificult to remove hooks from bone, they just decided to grab and pull instead of working the hook out, resulting in -1 lip. alot of the juvie bluegills at the local park here are like that.
