Mrs. Matstone, did you catch those bass with a rod and reel or did they just jump in your boat? ;D

Thanks everyone.

T-rig- I don't have a boat, wish I did once in a while though. I caught both those fish from shore. I usually am wading which is why I am wearing a swimsuit in the smallmouth pic. I don't have waders yet but hope to before winter comes otherwise it will be a little chilly in the water. ;D

FivePoundBluegill - You are right about the first two pics they are dark. It is because they were taken from  my husbands camera phone. One of my daughters had my camera that day. I believe that the fish was about 9 or 10 pounds you are correct. I did not have a scale so my husband measured it. It was 25.5 inches long and had a girth of approx. 18 inches. Guess we will never know how much it actually weighted but I really don't care. It was just very cool to catch it and release it.

Here is a pic of me sending that fish back hopefully maybe someday my daughter will catch him too. That would be even better than me catching that fish in the first place.

On average, 25.5" would be around 10lb 4oz.

Print this chart out for future reference:

http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/9222.html

You'll notice 25" = 9 lb 10 oz. The difference between 24.5" and 25" is 10 oz. Adding the additional 1/2", 9-10 + 10 = 10lb 4oz, but that may be slightly underestimating actual weight. At any rate, a GREAT fish!

Tis a true Giant.

That is a GREAT picture to go by when guessing weights.  There is no way that "12lb bass" looks remotely near the size of bizzles. Bizzles fish could inhale that thing in an instant.
