Guitarist86 Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 I caught both today on a senko ;D....along with 5 bass. Nothing was biting no matter what i used so i figured i'd give the senko's a try that were buried at the bottom of my box. The water i was fishing in was about 2 feet at the most. I started skipping the senko on top when i saw a splash...i let it sink a little and when i felt a tug i started reeling and a giant frog had the whole thing in his mouth I also had a water snake latch on to the end of the worm and he wouldn't let go until i got a few inches from shore. Weird day... Quote
Super User David P Posted June 16, 2007 Super User Posted June 16, 2007 I catch decent size bullfrogs on top water frogs.. The frogs hide under topwater weeds and junk, and while i'm bringing the frog along the top, I see a bullfrog just leap out and get on top of that frog and hug'em. i wonder how the hook affects a frog as opposed to a fish being hooked.. anyone know if it does any damage ? Quote
SDoolittle Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 I used to catch a lot of frogs when I was a kid. If the fish weren't biting I'd find a bullfrog and dangle my lure in front of his face. I took home a lot of frog legs that way. Quote
cpvenom Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Once while bringing a hooked bluegill out of the water, a watersnake "jumped" out of a bush and latched on to the fish. Took a bit of snaking to get it to let go. It was really cool! Quote
NEBassMan Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 yep...hooked through the mouth on a Spro Bronzeye Quote
perch-jerker60 Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Wow, hooked a couple water moccasins before. That frog would do wonders down here in Mississippi!!! Quote
Nate Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 yea... i fish this small farm pond every once in a while and if you use a topwater frog it is almost certain that you will catch at least one of the two... Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted June 16, 2007 Super User Posted June 16, 2007 my dad snagged this one w/ a weedless spoon while fishin a farm pond. it was swimmin in the water when he snagged it...(made me take it off the hook tho! thing bit me too :'() when i go bluegill fishin down at my pond, there are always massive (i mean massive) amounts of really big bullfrog tadpoles (golfball sized). sometimes if the fish arent biting, ill toy w/ then and snag them. i took my blowgun down there once to get a few...worked too! JayW Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 I caught over 20 Bull Frogs on a jerk bait one day fishing in the grass! It was kinda fun! ;D Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 16, 2007 Super User Posted June 16, 2007 I 've done something even stranger than hooking a snake, frog or a turtle, I hooked a clam ! I went fishing to a small lake between Silao and Romita, while fishing a plastic worm I felt a mushy sensation, set the hook and began reeling in, it just felt a little bit heavy, to my surprise there was a 2 inch closed clam grabbing the line :-? . Later I asked and the locals told me that there were freshwater clams in that lake. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted June 16, 2007 Super User Posted June 16, 2007 As kid I would catch frogs with my fly rod on purpose but only if the fish wouldn't bite. At least that way I got my entertainment. Guitarist86, what did you do to your cat? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Quote
crayon7 Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 I caught this thing last weekend. Pretty mad about the whole thing but ehh what could he do I had a 4ft stick. Goin back out there today too. Happy fishing all. Quote
Guitarist86 Posted June 16, 2007 Author Posted June 16, 2007 Guitarist86, what did you do to your cat? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D It's not my cat...just a funny pic i found on the interweb ;D Quote
Other. That is um, a mean thing to do. Snagging a tadpole will kill it and shooting it with a blowgun (Same as a airsoft gun?) will kill it to. Those are some poor fishing ethics there... ON TOPIC: I never caught a frog or a snake while fishing and I hope I never do. I would rather catch a bass edit: I just notice your T-shirt says "*** FISHING" ;D ;D ;D Quote
bassnleo Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 I've also caught both snakes and frogs. Neither bother me but if my fishing partner is in the boat look out, he comes unglued. I once hooked a snake on a worm, brought it to the boat, he told me if I brough it IN the boat we were fighting ;D. Two local lakes have abundant populations of water snakes that like to hang from shady trees alomg the water. While fishing one afternoon, I got my jig hung up along shore, went in under some low hangng branches to retreive it, 2 snakes were hangng down, I slid by till they were between me and partner then I told him....Not a pretty sight. Once we got back into open water and away from the snakes he told me to hold on. I didn't quite get it until I was in the water, he waited till I had my back turned then nudge me overboard . I laughed my behind off, even soaking wet, least it was hot and the dip felt good! Quote
rdneckhntr Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 I caught a few frogs...if i caught a snake my line would be cut...i dont care how expensive of a lure it is... On the way home from a trip 2 weeks ago we saw a black snake so i pulled over n the guy i was takin home(thought he was gonna kill it) ran back n picked it up...he tried to have me let him take it home with him but there was no way in hell i was gonna let him get near me with that thing...it was about 5ft long... armesjr Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 i caught a turtle on a Pop R yesterday night. Luckily it unhooked itself as i was pulling it on land. I have never caught a frog but i see a lot of them chasing after my topwater frogs. maybe that is were zoom came up with the name horny toads. Quote
Fishing Buds Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 I caught a deep diving crank bait on Paca craw carolina rig, my buddy swears it was his he lost in the same spot two seasons ago. :-? I still kept it ;D Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Of course. The garden snake took a 4" Berkley Power Worm. Luckily he didnt get the hook. -WM Quote
captaininsaneo Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 I hate a snake chasing after a zara puppy a few weeks back, it struck at it several times before I could get my lure back to the dock. It really was a site to see. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted June 30, 2007 Super User Posted June 30, 2007 I didn't catch a frog or or a snake but this huge filleted perch. This must be biggest perch I have ever seen! Caught it on a 7" senko and released it ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D! Quote
natanestaban Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 A FEW YEARS AGO, I WAS FISHING WITH A GUY ON THE APPALACHACOLA (SPELLING?) RIVER IN NORTHWEST FLORIDA AND HE CAUGHT A BABY ALLIGATOR ON A WORM BY DANGLING IT IN IT'S FACE. ALSO SAW ONE THAT WAS 10 FT PLUS. GOOD DAY OTHERWISE. HE LOST A 10LBER AT BOAT AND NUMEROUS 4-5 LBERS WHEN TIDE WAS MOVING. NO TIDE - NO FISH. I WAS FISHING OUT OF THE BACK OF BOAT AND HAD NEVER FLIPPED BEFORE AND ONLY CAUGHT DINKS. ONLY TIME I HAVE EVER FISHED IN TIDAL WATER BUT I WOULD RECOMMEND IT IF YOU CAN FIND A GOOD GUIDE OR HAVE ACCESS. HOWEVER LEAVE GATORS ALONE. I WAS LOOKING OVER MY SHOULDER THE WHOLE TIME AFTER I SAW THE FIRST ONE. BAMANATE Quote
denn34 Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 yep...hooked through the mouth on a Spro Bronzeye I thought i was the only one who ever did that. I don't think i ever laughed so hard in my life! ;D Quote
Super User T-rig Posted July 1, 2007 Super User Posted July 1, 2007 Even frogs love fat ikas! ;D Quote
