How many LMB do you average per hour? Size?

I know how many LMB's and what size bass you catch depends on close to a billion factors including the strain of fish, the yearly water temps, competition between fish & food supply, oxygen supply etc etc etc.

The point of my question isn't because I want to know if I'm catching more or less fish than anyone else, I just want to know because I'm curious. Simple.

Please tell me

1. I live in Boulder Colorado.

2. I've been averaging about 9 bass every 6 hours. If I go fishing from 12:00pm-6:00pm I've been getting about 8-10 bass per outing. If I fish after work from 6:30pm- 10:00pm I'll catch about 4-5 LMB's

3. The average weight has been about 1.5 pounds or so. Yesterday was a good day. I went fishing from 12:00-6:00. I caught 8 bass. 6 of them were 15 inches or better and 2 pounds or better. 2 were about 1 pound. the biggest was 18 inches and 3.1 pounds. The biggest LMB I've caught this summer was 4.2 pounds and 19 inches long.

This is going to be difficult. They did a study not long ago and discovered that ponds and small lakes outproduce large lakes by a factor of 3 to 4 when you compare numbers of bass caught per hour fished. I'll be giving 2 answers to these question, first will be small waters (SW), then big waters (BW). Something to take into account here too is that many pros don't like the big lake I fish (Truman), and I don't know it very well yet (first year on it or any big lake really). I also fish it mostly during our local "tourneys" (just for fun), so if I find anything less than 15" I'm not interested in staying for the fun of them. I need them bigger than 15" to count for the tourney.

1: Missouri for both. About 50 miles East of Kansas City.

2. SW: between 5 and 6 an hour. BW: 1 every 2 to 3 hours

3. SW: About 1.8#. BW: 2#

4. SW: 15". BW: 15"

5. SW: 5#. BW: 3.96#. Lifetime?: SW: 6.5# (once in Missouri and once in Oklahoma). BW: 3.96#

Yeah... one of the ponds I fish has some really skinny bass. Too many weeds and they can't find the food.

It depends where I fish and what I'm doing. If I'm locating big fish it can be 1-20 per day or even 0 per day. If I'm testing baits at the honey-hole I can catch up to 50 bass in 5 hours (20 bass on a bad day there). Sometimes I take the hooks off my baits when I'm locating fish just seeking hits.

This is a good question but may be better suited to regional forums.

Lately I could not calculate fish per hour....more like fish per week.  Its been that slow!

This year, we have fished the night much more than any other time (90%)

I'm in RI and we are doing an avg of a 4 hr shift.

We AVG roughly 15 fish / trip as a team with at least 1 fish over 4 lbs every 3 hrs or so. (again all totals are for 2 person team)

Largest this yr is 7.11

"Most" fish was during the pre-spawn/spawn we had days of 60+ fish in 4 hrs.

Once April hits, we will not leave the lake with a skunk in the boat, no matter what.  So far, so good.

2.  Averaging 21 bass per 8 hours fished. (These numbers vary depending on the body of water I'm fishing.)

This has been a strange year for me.  Due to work I haven't had as much time to get out my boat, so I have fished from one particular pond more than the bodies of water I usually fish.  It has smaller fish but more of them.  It's better than not getting to fish at all.  In past years I have usually averaged maybe 8 fish per 8 hours fishing, but I caught larger fish.

Well first off, I can't include any of the 1 to 3 lb fish that do a kamakaze move on an MS Slammer, or a dink that sneaks in and grabs a Huddlebug or a crawler, out from in front a 10 to 13 lb'er...... Because with fish of that size, I still consider myself skunked at the end of the trip.

I think I average less than one fish per 10 hour trip..... So I'd say, .08 fish per hour ?

depends on what lake if im at home at crystal clear long lake like my avatar pic i can catch 3-4 per hour all keepers on senkos but if i go to a resevoir and am flipping alot of stuff probably 1 per hour not always a keeper. but i can usually catch a 5 bass limit of keepers anywhere.

I fish 3-5 nights after work per week, most trips are about 2-3 hours of on the water time, a tipical night is about 5 fish, more if I am out there longer or the bite is on, less if the trip is short or condtions are tough. I usually have time to fish 2-3 of my favorite spots (out of about 30) I have on my home lake a night, I never fish them same spots 2 days in a row. I have had 3 skunkings this year 1 in april, 1 in june, and one last week

3+4 most are about 2lb's and 15"-16", usually get a nice one or two (3-4lber) every time out, catch a couple of 5's each year.

5. 5lb's 2oz. Twice, on back to back nights,one was in 10' of water on a weed line, the other was in 2' of water under a dock. Only 2 5's I have this year. lots of mid-high 4's,

Keep in mind i fish a high pressure lake,where just about every fish that gets caught by anglers here are taken home.So it's rare to see a 5 pounder swimming around.I'm shore bound as well....so the areas i fish  they are extremely spooked and aware of everything that goes on around them.Which is why my theory of me having so much problems catching anything on senko/stickbaits...because these fish see it every single day.

3.  LMB aren't the only fish we area after,when we catch one of them, they tend to be bigger.  Kentucks and small mouth are a more frequent visitor to my hook, but tend to run a bit smaller.  I would guess the average LMB is around three or four pounds

4.  Same disclaimer as above, average LMB tends tobe more in the 20" range

5.  Heaviest LMB is 5.5 pounds.  

I keep logs on bass caught, but don't break it down to LMB, Kentucks, smallmouth or any other.  Do most of you break your logs down that far?  I log water temp, air temp,wind speed and direction, location caught, line, rod , and tackle.
