airborne_angler Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 What in the world is wrong with this picture? Caught this fish on Baby Brush Hog. Do fish do this often? This is a first for me. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted August 14, 2007 Super User Posted August 14, 2007 I've had fish to regurgitate from time to time Quote
Taliesin Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 It doesn't happen a lot but it does happen, especially if the fish have been feeding a lot recently. About three weeks ago I was in a local tourney where everyone caught fish that threw up after being caught. Every fish caught was so stuffed it was surprising anyone caught a fish. The shad hatch was about 3-4" long and EVERYWHERE. The fish weren't hungry, but were all caught on reaction bites. It's hard to tell from your pic, but it may be that your fish wasn't hungry either but had a stuffed belly and was caught by reaction bite. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted August 14, 2007 Super User Posted August 14, 2007 I've had quite a few fish spew their lunch on me. It's pretty messy. Falcon Quote
CJ Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 I have had a number of bass spew in my livewell. You would be suprised at the size bluegill even a small bass will eat. Schooling white bass or stripes are worst at this.I have heard of guides that don't even let them in the boat they're so bad about heavin'. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Bluefish throw baby menhaden all over the boat. Trick is to clean it immediately or it becomes bulletproof with a little salt and sun. Quote
BLUESKY Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 That really sucks if it happens on the way to the scales and you end up out of the money by a few hundreths of a pound. I curse those dam digital weigh in scales. Earlier this year as I was transfering fish from the livewell to the carry bag, my big bass heaved a good sized crawdad, won the tournament but lost big bass by .01 pounds. Quote
Fish Chris Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Reminds me of earlier this year; I had hooked a really nice Northern strain bass, which spit up a half digested trout carcuss, of about 12". So, I net the bass and I'm thinking... "Now if I weigh this thing and it weighs like 9.6 lbs, I'm picking that slimy, half digested trout back up, and shoving it back down its thoat" ! {don't know that I'd really do that.. probably not good for the fish... but I'd sure be tempted :-)} Anyway, it ended up going 10.3 lbs "without" the trout :-) So it was all good. I think if I were a bass, I'd spit my previous meal "at the fisherman who just stuck a hook in my mouth" ! :-) Peace, Fish Quote
Davis Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Wow that is odd for me as well. Never had that happen. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted August 16, 2007 Super User Posted August 16, 2007 i caught a bass and i had it spit up a little minnow in my hand...the minnow was covered in this metallic silvery substance...it was gross...i think it was digestive fluid stuff. Quote
Guest avid Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I keep tellin y'all. It's allright to kiss a bass But no tongue. Quote
