Super User Matt Fly Posted August 2, 2007 Super User Posted August 2, 2007 I had read the thread on one of Bass Resouce's finest. To which the idea came from. http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/myfox/pages/Home/Detail;jsessionid=D421B541B2250D7980701CD5AFAF3B32?contentId=3680290&version=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=VSTY&pageId=1.1.1&sflg=1 The August challenge list isn't posted yet, so I thought that I'd issue a challenge to all. First off, I have never posted a single picture of one of my trips, so that is a challenge to start with. My challenge to all is simple. Take a youth fishing. Some one you have not fished with, some one that you hardly know, some one whos parent my be deployed overseas, or someone who doesn't have both parents. Short and simple, take a kid fishing before the school year kicks off. The example Randall set probably gave him more satisfaction than the double digit bass he posts about regularly. Post some pictures of your "new" fishing buddy, and hopefully your catch. Any takers. Hookem matt Quote

Super User islandbass Posted August 3, 2007 Super User Posted August 3, 2007 Great idea! Here is my son fishing last Friday. Every time he snags up, he laughs and says it's a little fishy. Here's a shot of my daughter and nephew. Taking kids fishing for me is just as fun as fishing solo. The real reward for you who takes them is their smiles they give you whether or not they catch fish. Quote
justfishin Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Great pics, Islandboy !!! Too you fisherboy, ah, to be young again. Enjoy your youth my friend, its special. Quote
Taliesin Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Would a 28 year old brunette count? To be fair though, if I take her I would also be taking her 8 year old nephew, so it would count. Quote

Guest avid Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Alas, I would have to 'advertise" for a kid, and these days of pedophile phobia, I think it wise not to go that route. With both my kids married, you would think I'd have a grandson or daughter to spoil and teach bassin' too. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. None yet. But the good news is that Jason aka West Palm Dude has granted me the title of "honorary grand uncle and fishing buddy for life" to baby Ninja. So I will fulfill the challenge, just not at this year. Yo Bocabasser. do you ever check the SE fishing thread? The South Florida Boyz and possibly some "significant others" are having another get together next Saturday. Check out the thread and c'mon down. Much fun, food, drink, comraderie, and yes we always catch bass. Hope to see ya there. avid Quote
cdabelow Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 I love to take my little boy fishing you should all read my post about last nights trip "a chip off the old block". He is the coolest. bighed Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Took me a little while to get this done Matt but here it is. Bass fishing kids are a little hard to come by. My son is an avid bass fisherman but has only one friend that likes to fish as much as he does. That young man is heavily involved in sports so they have only been able to fish local ponds an hour or two at a time. We've invited him to join us several times but he's always been busy. Well today I was able to get it done. Myself, Chad, and his friend hit Fork for a full day of bassin. I didn't have much expectations for a 95 degree blue bird August day but the boys kicked butt! We started out in No Name and only picked up one fish shallow so decided to hit some deep points and humps. Ended up graphing a TON of shad on the Dale hump so stopped and hit it with DD14's and DD22's. Between the two boys they put around 12 bass in the boat from 2-5 pounds. Chad's friend had the hog of the day on, around 8-10 pounds, but it made a jump and spit the DD14 back at him. It was a great day of fishing and a great challenge. Thanks Matt! Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted August 6, 2007 Author Super User Posted August 6, 2007 This isn't just about bass fishing, it anything you can get to bite for some young kid. As for places to not look like a child molester. Churchs, Boys Clubs, Local area military recruiting offices usually know the local guys gone who have children. How about contacting your area schools. The principal knows alot about their students. This is simply about introducing some body new to fishing and giving back. I was lucky to have a Dad that liked the outdoors. With todays technology, games, 100's of TV channels, computers, 24 hrs sports, ESPN, its no wonder why the decline in the outdoors activity has declined according to reports. Thats the one part of the Fishing Hole and Jerry that hit home. I just want to thank my Dad for always having time to take me fishing!!!!!! A lot of kids aren't that lucky. Matt Quote
Triton21 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Matt, I took my nephew from Tulsa fishing in my pond last week, he's 13 and had only been fishing once in his life. Does that count? By the way tell C___s "HI" for me. Kelley Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted August 7, 2007 Author Super User Posted August 7, 2007 Kelley, Will do, Chris has been trying to school me this year. She has quite the resume put together on swim bait fish this year. I've thrown one a lot longer than her, and she has amassed over 50 SB fish this year, and this is her first year to fish for bass. I hope to see you in March or when ever you make the trip. Come on down, the bite is steady, the night fishing has been very good for quality. Matt Quote
