tritz18 Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 I went fishing today and on wed in a normal pond near where I live. Earlier in the summer I was catching about 10 bass a trip, but now as it has gotten hotter the spots (with plenty of cover) that I normally fished gave me little success. Does anyone have any ideas how and where to find the fish. I go in a canoe not a motor boat so I can't really troll the deep places. Can anyone help? Quote
tritz18 Posted August 3, 2007 Author Posted August 3, 2007 I know I fished senkos all morning in areas of cover and only ended up with 2 fish. Quote
Guest ncbass24 Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 The fish will be deeper than they were in the early summer when your spots produced. Try fishing deeper structure/ cover with deep diving crankbaits and carolina rigs. Quote
Bass_Akwards Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 it happens to everyone I'd say. I only got 1 or 2 on Monday and Tuesday with Senkos. Then zero on Wednesday. I fished the same area on Friday, that I did on Wednesday, and caught 6 fish including a 3.9 pounder. 18.5 inches long which is a hawg for the ponds I fish here in Boulder Colorado. be patient, theyre in there, waiting for your senko. I find the fish a little deeper during the day, if it's sunny. They'll be in shade too, where the cover meets the light. For day fishing keep using soft plastics like a brushhog or a good worm. Try spinnerbaits too, theyre as practical and versitile a lure as they make. t Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Downsize! Not as easy to do with Senkos but downsize on your other stuff Quote
SlateTundra Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 I fish deeper, look for shade & over head cover, slow down to a more vertical presentation. Quote
bass109 Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 with a canoe you can go into areas where big motor boats cant, just keep at it Quote
Super User Catt Posted August 4, 2007 Super User Posted August 4, 2007 Along the Gulf Coast it's hot (90+) from late April through September; I use larger baits and look for vegetation. Grass = Bass Quote
