the last few weeks, we have been pushing the start time back further and further as the night bite has been a good one and the bite has been shutting down hard after sun up till late morning, early afternoon when it picks up again.  With this in mind, we have been leaving the house by 1am, on the water by 2.  Off by 9ish and back on after dinner.

and, of course, we ALWAYS use the official  Ku chart to make sure we are lined up with an optimal time frame.

The best time to go fishing is any time you can  8-)

They bite the best the day before you get there & the day after you leave  ;)

As my daughters would say, "At the butt crack of dawn."  I don't know that I catch any more fish early in the day, but I love being on the lake at dawn.

A bunch of "normal" people ? ;-)

I used to be out there at the crack of dawn every time... But over the years I began to see that I caught the vast majority of my BIG bass between 10 am and 2 pm anyway. So now days, I normally get on the water between 9 and 10 am. Granted, I ususally don't get off of the water until they kick me off... or its too dark to see.

This morning is an exception though. I plan to be casting a line by 6:30 am, as I wanted a maximum amount of time on the water, before the clouds and fog clear.....

Wish me luck, and the same to you guys :-)

Peace,

Fish

I used to fish 3 or 4 days a week after work. I'd run grab a six pack and

head to the lake. Thinking back fifteen years later I don't remember catching

tons of fish..but I think often of how quiet and peaceful those trips were.

I'm guessing it was how I would unwind from a crazy day at the office.

I think fishing is a lot of fun even when there's not lots of fish.

That sounds about like me. I am lucky enough to have a tidal river about 20 ft away from the building I work in.  I have never seen anyone catch a bass there, but the reds , flounder and trout seem to cooperate along with the beer. I don't always catch fish but its peaceful and I can forget about a lot of things.

I try to get out about half hour before sunrise because that is when you can actually see and normally the best topwater bite of the day.  Sometimes old Mr. Busch and his cousins make it a little later.   ::)

In the spring and early summer I am usually on the water 30 minutes to an hour before sunrise.. In the summer if it is an allday trip, the same 30 mins or and hour before SU, but In the summer I have better luck mid afternoon to dark, so usually not until 2:00 or so.. Fall, back in the pattern of early..

For most of my life, I was generally on the water at sun up. I started keeping a fishing log in October of 05. At the end of last season I reviewed the log, and discovered that I caught about 10% of my fish between sun up and 10AM. The bulk of my fish were caught between noon and 4pm.

This year, I've been getting on the water around 9am and fishing until dusk, and I've been doing fine.
