jbmaine Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 IMHO everyone has the same right to enjoy a public body of water so long as they follow the laws. Around here I believe the rules are headway speed only unless you are 200ft away from the shore and other boaters. Sad to say, not everyone does this. It is so bad on the lakes we fish that camp owners have had to put up floats in front of their property to give their kids a safe place to swim. And it does seem jetskiers are the worst. I was talking to a marine patrol officer the other day and he said stopping reckless jetskiers kept him busy all summer. JB Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I should reiterate my point. We used to pier fish in the Atlantic Ocean. (Ft. Lauderdale, Deerfield Beach etc) These nitwits on jet skis have the ENTIRE ocean, yet they would harrass the pier fisherman by purposely coming in and trying to run over the lines. Maybe I should have made that more clear. Quote
Floridabassking352 Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I just yell at them and have no trouble speaking my mind. If they're doing something they shouldn't be doing, I tell them about it. Some of them move off, but if they don't, I just go to another one of my spots away from them. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Obviously, this thread will show intrest on a fishing forum because we all share the same interests. We all have the right to express our concerns and aggrivations with a sport of a different sort that reflects on our favored sport. Are these situations an inconvenience? Yes. Many of us could show more on the water respect toward others. From the jetskier blasting by, a cruiser coming within 15ft of you and almost swamping the boat, or an aristocratic tournement fisherman. Thank you and have a wonderful evening. Ethics class is dismissed. Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 The skiers, jet skiers, and pleasure boaters have just as much right to be there as I do,but I don't have to like it ! Fishing surely suffers when they are out racing up and down the lake. That's one of the reasons that I fish early, late, and at night. Quote
Guest avid Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I don't know why you guys get so torqued about skiers. There is a time and place for everyone. The time and place for skiers is not on my lake while I am there Yo, 4Biz. You have definitly filled the "mook" void while Muddy's on vaca. I'm proud of you young feller. Quote
Other. Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I was once trolling for mackerel and these people on the jetskies hit my line and broke it and I lost a 15 doller lure Quote
