Super User Hookemdown. Posted June 25, 2007 Super User Posted June 25, 2007 Does almost every bite you get seem to happen right after a friend asks you a question, or you lay your rod down to reach into the cooler... The situations are endless. Sometimes the fish will totally swallow the bait and get gut hooked (BAD), but most the time I end up completely missing them (bad, but better than a gut hook). Am I the only one the bass are messing with? :-? Quote
Guest ncbass24 Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Nope. They mess with me plenty also. Looking at friends fish, Bam! Talking, Bam! Lay rod down, Bam! It never stops..... Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 ...or while picking out a backlash! I think it happens to everyone, and I take it as a sign that I need to sloooooow down my presentation. I tell my daughter to cast her Senko and count to 30 before she thinks about moving it. I wish I could follow my own advice sometimes. :-[ Quote
IdahoLunkerHunter Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I like the hits when you lite a cigarette. I've gotten pretty good at the one handed set now . Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 25, 2007 Super User Posted June 25, 2007 .... or when taking a pic of your partner while he 's holding his catch. Quote
frogtog Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 The fish are trying to tell you something, have you caught on yet? Quote

But what If you're using spinning tackle with the anti-reverse turned off for some reason... The reel just makes this buzzy noise and whoops, there's all of my line in a giant mess > Quote
paulc Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 If you have not gotten a bite in a while. Dont change your lure or presentation. All you have to do is start eating a sandwich. It works every time. I have the studies and historical data to prove it. Quote
Super User flechero Posted June 25, 2007 Super User Posted June 25, 2007 you lay your rod down to reach into the cooler... We addressed this with the Miller Lite 32 oz. cans... we are now 2.66 times less likely to get bit while reaching into the cooler. ;D But since it still happens, I hold rod in left, fetch beverage with right, do not set a casted rod down. All is well. Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Imagine this... Your wife is 8.5 months pregnent and your phone is in your pocket. It starts ringing just as your rod bows over. What to do.....??? Quote

(you have voice mail, right?) ...lol I'm kidding if Mrs. flechero reads this, I wouldn't have gone fishing with her being 8.5 months pregnant! Quote
BassChaser57 Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 You bring up a great point. Most of us would rather be a power fisherman live KVD but most bass most of the time would respond better to a slower soaking type presentation. What you are saying is exactly right! Fish high percentage areas, slow down and let the Bass find the lure. 8-) Quote
wagn Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 it always happens to me, especially if i'm out fishing with my little sister and she gets her line tangled, or lure caught in a tree. Right as i turn to help her I get a hit. On a side note, i guess i'm lucky cause my wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant and she still gets up and goes out fishing with me in the morning. Quote
Fishing Buds Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 It happens to me when I'm ready to go, then BAM! JUST LIKE RAIN! Been no rain around here since bottom of April, washed the wifes van and my truck Friday--saturday and Sunday storms : Now if I could try this strange power to winning the lottery ;D Quote
Red Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 just the other day, i threw my crank out then turned and started yappin to my bud while diggin in my pocket for my can of dip...i didnt hear or feel the fish...he says..hey hey hey!! i turn around and my line is running...set the hook with one hand (had dip in other) reel her in...2lber Cliff Quote
Taliesin Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Imagine this... Your wife is 8.5 months pregnent and your phone is in your pocket. It starts ringing just as your rod bows over. What to do.....??? I got this one licked... I keep my phone on my belt, with the "hands-free" device in my ear. I do this all the time while fishing. But yes... Fish are telepathetic. You sit on the bank catfishing, your baits been sitting still for 2 hours with nothing, you turn around to get a drink (or whatever), and BAM... Quote
kevin. Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Ever cast, get hooked by ur little cousin and while ur digging a 4/0 true turn outta your back, land a 3 pounder? Kinda sucked reeling that in with a hook in my shoulder blade. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Funny, funny thread but you guys forgot PEEING!!!! How many rods can you hold at once? Quote
