The Bass Fisherman Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 I don't have any money to buy lures.... I'm only 11 so I can't get a job... And my family is to poor for the extra money to buy them... :'( Any ideas or know where freebies are??? I'm looking for Craws, Grubs, and worms mostly.... :-/ Quote
Guest avid Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 when I was 11 I cut lawns, raked leaves, shoveled snow, washed cars, walked dogs, hung out near the supermarket and carried groceries for tips. The list goes on. Your a kid, but be a man. You want something, work for it. where there's a will theres' a way. Quote
The Bass Fisherman Posted June 30, 2007 Author Posted June 30, 2007 Okay. Only one problem.... People where I live don't trust anyone else except themselves, and their family.... but I'll try. Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 30, 2007 Super User Posted June 30, 2007 Everyone needs help in the yard. So put on a nice smile and offer your services to help them work in their yards, etc. As for freebies, I am sorry to say your attemps will be unscessful. Unless you can find another bass fisherman in your area who wants to take an interest in you and teach you how to fish you probably will not obtain much tackle free. I agree with Avid. Go out and grab the bull by the horns and do some work to earn some money. Funny thing that work ethic has on people. They make money! They save money! They use the saved money to purchase stuff they want! And they enjoy doing it!!! Go for the gold, kid. Quote

327 Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 When I was around the same age, I also didn't have any money for lures. So for birthdays and Christmas I would ask my parents for trips to walmart for tackle instead of presents. Though, mostly we would fish local ponds with cane poles and just catch grasshoppers and crickets, frogs etc around the bank of the ponds. Or in our yards or anywhere we could find some high grass. You would be surprised how many bass we would catch on grasshoppers lol. Perhaps if you know anyone who has a boat, you could offer cleaning, etc in exchange for old lures... Either way, good luck and keep on fishing/trying Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted June 30, 2007 Super User Posted June 30, 2007 if you could obtain a fly tying kit and some materials you could easily learn how to tie flies and then trade them for lures or sell them for money to buy lures.....thats what i do. Quote
Palomar Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 I'll pipe in here, Collin the Fisherman son don't give up so easly, Life is full of wanting lures, and they are not free. Work for it and you can call it your own. Hard work shouldn't trouble you to give up. Work hard can reward. Quote
