mattm Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I was talking to a guy the other day who had just broken his personal best twice in one day on Lake Fork. This got me wondering the most anyone on here had ever broken there PB in one year. Not counting their first year, obviosly. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Check out the "My tournament or outting" section, happens all the time. Quote
JayW Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Well, back in '87 I broke my personal best (8 lbs at the time) twice in 1 day on consecutive casts. I caught a 11 lb Bass and then, on my very next cast, which happened to be in the same exact spot, I caught a 9 lb Bass. Then in '98 I broke my 11 lb record with a 13+ lb Bass. I've caught a lot of Bass in the 10 lb range, but I've only landed 4 Bass over 10 lbs! Quote
mattm Posted June 4, 2007 Author Posted June 4, 2007 I guess I didn't explain myself very well. I was doubting the guy. I was just wondering what everyone's best year(as far as PB's concerned)on here was. ls1jay, in the exact situation I was talking about you would of only broken your PB once that day b/c after you caught the 11lber that would of been your new PB so the 9lber would not of qualified. Still very nice fish and must of been a fun day though. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted June 5, 2007 Super User Posted June 5, 2007 My PB of 6lb 2oz has stood since Sept 17, 1994. Quote
SDoolittle Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 When I was a teenager (long ago) I broke my personal best three times in a week. The first fish was 4 lbs even. I remember holding that fish and staring at it for a long time and thinking about what a hawg I had just caught. Little did I know that an hour later I would catch one that weighed 4.5 lbs. The following weekend I was right back there at my new secret spot and caught only one fish all morning, but it weighed over five lbs and I was on top of the world. In the nearly twenty years since that week I've caught a lot of fish (and a lot bigger), but that still ranks as one of best times I've had fishing. Quote
-badhabit- Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 It's hard to compare PB weights from every part of the nation at once. I have just as much admiration for the skill for those (example) in NY that catch largemouth that weigh 6-7 lbs as someone here in FL that catches 9-10 lb largemouth on a consistant basis. I quit counting largemouth 10+ lbs in about 1986 @ a little over 130. But it was my job to put people on trophy fish on the best big bass lake in the World (West Lake Lake Toho). I am looking for a 14+ lb post-spawn bass from Florida waters only, no transplant "super" bred Florida strain bass elsewhere (they count as 0 to me because they are not a native species in those places). My PB was a 14 lb 4 oz pre-spawn bass that I personally only counted as a 13 lb ? oz because of her being full of roe. My boat was being remodeled the 1st 3 months of this year but I have still caught 4 over 10 lbs & 18 over 8 lbs since early April. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted June 5, 2007 BassResource.com Administrator Posted June 5, 2007 My wife broke her personal best with a 7 1/2 pounder on the same day I broke mine twice - with an 8.1 pounder and with a 9.1 pounder -- on Lake Fork this year. So, yes, it can happen! Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 5, 2007 Super User Posted June 5, 2007 June 30th July 6th 1978 while on the way to Toledo Bend I told my ex-wife if I caught a bass over 6 lbs I was going to have it mounted. During that week I caught 12 bass from 6 1/8 7 3/4 in Polo Gaucho Creek on a spot we call Machine Gun Ridge and my PB is now 12.8; still not had a bass mounted or a replica made. Quote
