bugman Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I had my eye on a St.Croix AC60MHF that was on clearence and the bait monkey finaly got the best of me. I know this will be my T-rig rod and was thinking using it for casting jigs also. Up until now I have only pitched or flipped jig & pig with a flipping stick or light lined a shakey head with a spinning outfit. I'm looking for suggestions on what jigs to use with a horizonal presentation. Thanks Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 5, 2009 Super User Posted February 5, 2009 I use my worm rod which is a Shimano Crucial CRC-X610MH Extra Fast for throwing ¼-3/8 Oldham's Lures Trailer Hitch Jigs but any jig will work for casting. Quote
Big-O Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 If you're dragging in the gravel or rocks I might go to a football head jig and otherwise like Catt mentioned, any of them will suffice for casting Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Bankfisher Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I am a big fan of football head jigs for rocks and cover. I use a st. croix 6' 6" mh casting rod with 14lb flouro. i like a heavier stiffer rod so i can really feel what the jig is doing. Quote

Bankfisher Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 which weight do yall think wouldbe best ... 3/8 or 1/2 That would depend on a few things. If you are fishing heavy cover or current or if the fish are really turned on, i would probably go with a 1/2 oz. If its shallow or the bite is slow i would want a slower fall to the bottom to keep it in the strike zone longer so i would go with a 3/8 or even a 1/4 Quote
