CrazedL.IFisherman Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 How would you go about fishing a body of water without having a fish finder and not being able to see past 2 inches of the surface. My best guess these few lakes im talking about are 10-15 feet deep max. There are quite a few lakes like this where i live and wondered how you guys and gals would go about fishing it. It does have lots of noticeable structure that hangs into the water such as parts of trees. My logical guess would to add rattles to soft baits, use vibration lures like spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, or extremely loud crankbaits. I'm very interested how you guys approach lakes like this where visability is impossible and knowing the bottom structure is very hard as well, and lastly which lures would be best suited for waters like these. Thanks for all the help again-Jon Quote
jomatty Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 i think the classic lure choice would be a single colorado bladed spinnerbait. a bulky jig with bulky trailer would be another good starting point Quote
Cephkiller Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 I would fish a large jig with rattles and a bulky trailer. This should be a productive bait and it has the added advantage of allowing you to assess the features of the bottom. Quote
skeeterman24 Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 in water that murky the bass will hold real tight to cover and they "should" be shallow so I would look for laydowns, weeds, rocks or whatever you can find in shallow water. Quote
Guest avid Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 visiblity = 2 inches? Look for clearer water. Quote
MakhuluBass Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 I would use dark plastics and have also had some good success using a black crankbait with a loud rattle. Quote
dink Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 I fish a murky lake here in the midwest quite often. One thing I have noticed over the years on this lake is that there are always fish shallow regardless of season. Target the shallow visible cover first and work your way out deeper. All of the baits already mentioned are good choices... just remember, big and bulky. Yet something not mentioned is presentation. In this kind of water, keeping the bait in the strike zone is essential. Jiggling or shaking soft plastics and jigs and slow rolling moving baits has always been more productive for me personally. dink Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Murky water has always been a major weakness of mine. I try to look for clearer water whenever I can.. But if I were you a spinnerbait or a rattletrap cannot be beat. -Wm P.S. Chatterbaits are nice too Quote
