Super User senile1 Posted April 27, 2007 Super User Posted April 27, 2007 I do Sometimes, Like Fredo in "The Godfater: Part II" say's, "Every time I put my line in the water I said a Hail Mary, and every time I said a Hail Mary I caught a fish." I find myself doing this and screaming "AMEN!" when I catch one lol. . . . . and look what happened to Fredo . . . . Quote
AnthonyRSS Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Phillipians 4:6 Thats a yes. Anthony Quote

Zel Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 I don't say a prayer He's right there with me. I figured if God isn't everywhere, then he's nowhere. I think I posted this once before A little prayer I came up with long ago, that also served as my co-angler checklist the night before a tournament. Now I lay me down to sleep, A box of tackle at my feet. My rod and reel perched by the door, My life vest lays upon the floor, A rainsuit if there's storms ahead, Hat and license sit beside the bed. Water, lunch and snacks to eat, Sunscreen and shades to beat the heat. Now if I should die before I wake, I pray, dear Lord, it's some mistake, For I just know the very next day, It's 20 pounds that I will weigh. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted April 27, 2007 Super User Posted April 27, 2007 Always. I need all the help I can get. Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 My only prayer: Please don't let anything happen to my little girls, my boy, or my wife while I'm here in Iraq. If anyone in my family has to suffer, then let it be me because I'm the only one that ain't worth having around. Amen. Quote

blanked Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 i am going to answer different. i pray but not to ask for something like catching fish. personally i feel that is a meaningless thing to ask for when you look at all the problems going on in this world where real help is needed. just my 2 cents Quote
clipper Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 I usually have to pray for my motor to start more than to catch a big fish! I also have to pray for the patience to tolerate jet skis and backlashes >. I once heard my uncle say a real earnest prayer from the bottom of my dad's fishing boat in a bad, bad storm on Lake George, Fla. I guess I was too young to be scared. I often offer a prayer of thanks for a beautiful sunset on the water or that enchanted time right at dawn when the birds are singing, the water is like glass, and the bass are making those beautiful splashes chasing minnows on the surface. GatorBK Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Yes I do when hunting and fishing , You need ask in the right way ....and be careful what you ask for, For instance I was night fishing for bass a few nights ago and catching small ones , I asked please just let one big bass bite . Well it did and it was real big just how big I dont know because it broke my line . I wish I would have asked to land a big bass now :-? Quote
Rebbasser Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Not formally, but I do find myself taking time to enjoy and admire His handiwork. Quote
mossy500camo Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 I do before every trip. They ususally start with something like, "Lord please let me have a safe, happy trip. No mechanical problems...... and no wind" ! But then they always end with, ".....and please let me catch just ONE big one" ! :-) So here's the funny thing....... On the way home from the lake last Monday, I said, "Lord, thanks SO much for that 12.0..... I mean, it would have been nice to have landed that second big one, but...... Wait a minute ! I did actually pray for "Just one big one" ! And that was exactly what I got ! Doh ! :-)Remember that old saying, "Careful what you ask for, because you just might get it" ? :-) LOL Oh well. It would be pretty hard for me to doubt my blessings, either way :-) Peace, Fish LOL! I say a "fishing prayer" the night before and the morning before, the drive to the ole favorite fishing hole, etc. Quote
llPa1nll Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Somebody better start praying for the NY Yankees Dont worry Im sure they will turn it around they always do, but just in case Go Red Sox! For saying a little pray that would be a no. Quote
bass assassin121 Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 yes, I went fishing with my aunt once and she made me thank the lord everytime I caught something that day. We both ended up catching over 40 trout, I've never said thank you that much in a single day since then, but since then I always pray when I go fishing. : And I really start to pray when the wind picks up. sal669 Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Somebody better start praying for the NY Yankees Dont worry Im sure they will turn it around they always do, but just in case Go Red Sox!. And how about those METS?????? I thank God for everithing He did, does and will do for us; keeping my family (and me) alive, ask him to keep us employed, ask Him to grant us good health, a little bit of luck and....keep those wind under 10mph, cause my canoe can't handle rough water. Fisher of Men Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 My only prayer: Please don't let anything happen to my little girls, my boy, or my wife while I'm here in Iraq. If anyone in my family has to suffer, then let it be me because I'm the only one that ain't worth having around. Amen. That's really beautiful. That's one of my daily prayers, although I'm here with them every day. Please be aware that people are praying for you daily as well. In reference to the question, yes, I pray often, even for my fishing trip. Usually I just thank God for the health and opportunity to enjoy His wonderful creation. If I catch a big one, well, that's secondary to anything else. Quote
RecMar8541 Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Im with avid on this one. nope. Not because I dont believe, but just becasue if im gonna borrow some of the big guys time to talk to him there seems like much more important thing in the world to ask for. Quote
