Ever do this?

This has happened to me more than once.

I'm cleaning a reel and changing line.  So far so good.

I think about the conditions I'm likely to face, and taking into account the properties of the rod n reel, I select the best lure and tie it on.

I wipe down the rod with a damp cloth, carefully cleaning and inspecting the guides.

I seat the reel and tighten the screw down so the reel is good and secure.

It's about right now that I realize I can't run the line through the rod guides because I have already tied on a lure.

How dumb is that?  :-/

Not that but I have on a regular basis after putting a lure on I have noticed that I have missed a guide or let the line get wrapped around one.

I haven't done that, Avid. But I have missed a guide or wrapped around the rod and I have run line through the guides and tied on a lure before realizing I didn't go under the bail. Most of these things haven't happened in a while though, since I've become used to doing them more often.

Nope Avid, but like the other guys I have missed a guide.

I have cut the tag line off a lure and watched it disappear in the water as I actually cut the line when I retied.

Either I miss one guide on the rod, or I forget to thread the line through the levelwind eye of the reel.

Happens more than I'd like to admit it.

Man, avid, I know what you mean.  But the only thing you can do is strip off all the line, run it through the eyes backwards, and spool it back up! :o :o I hate it when that happens. ;D ;D ;D

Lucky for me, other than everything mentioned above, I have never had a problem.

Ive done that and a few more mook moves and then some

I drove to the lake and realized the trolling motor and battery were in my drive way

I recently spooled a new reel rated 120 yards of 12 lb test, after reeling in at least 200 yards i relaized i was taking it from a spool of 6 uyyard line

I continuously cut off the lure end of a tir and have the tag end in my other hand

But I have missed a guide or wrapped around the rod and I have run line through the guides and tied on a lure before realizing I didn't go under the bail.

Thats an easy fix. Just take the spool off, open the bail and put the spool back on.

That used to happen to me on a regular basis.

Nothing better than tying on a swivel, then cutting the line about 18" above the swivel (tying a carolina rig), then tying the other end of the swivel onto the main line, then realizing that you forgot to thread the sinker and bead onto the main line.

 Been there, done that (and worse) and bought the durned T-shirt. To make matters even worse I always look up to see if anyone was watching . Ahhh, the treasures of our "Golden Years" :...

I used to have a MinnKota Powerdrive and I always unplugged the pedal and stored it in the house to keep it out of the weather.  One day I drove about 30 minutes to the lake, launched the boat and began to float away when I realized the pedal was at home.  I had to paddle back to the ramp, reload the boat, go get the pedal and start all over again.  :-[

Avid, I do this all the time! Especially when i haven't gone fihing for a while and I'm all excited!

I've also never gotten a lure stuck in a tree.

Nope, never done that either.

Nor have I ever tied on a hook before I put a sinker on the line.

I don't do anything like that...

Yesterday,

 Took the family to church......come on,  fish are waiting, Amen!

 Cut grass at record speed!

 Throw every thing in the truck and fly to local hole.

 set up two kids and me with deadly lures.

 (missed one eye on one rod and wrapped the line on another)

 Son lands nice small bass before I even get the lure setup on the last and final rod,MINE!

 great time had by all!

Everything mentioned above including forgetting to run the line through the level wind of the reel before I ran it through the guides. It took me a while to figure out why my line was piling up on one side of the spool.
