Every now & then I see mention of the different moon phases. I've never really looked into why guys think this is important. I'd like to learn about this subject & maybe try some of your ideas this year. I need some info on keeping track of the moon phases. Why do you think it is important? Also, how do you plan your fishing when you are keeping track of the moon phases?

1. I need some info on keeping track of the moon phases

Poor Richard's Almanac

2. Why do you think it is important?

Moon phases coincide with Tidal Movements

3. Full moon = night fishing

Well I never paid much attention to it till recently, I have found the bass spawn near a full moon more than a new moon. I catch more bass in the afternoon on a full moon

I have been doing a lot of night fishing lately and I always heard the bass bite best on a full moon at night

But I have been catching twice as many bass and bigger bass on or around the new moon at night

I know some of this may sound wrong but I have kept track of the moon phases and those results are what I have found to be true.

Also for some reason the bass seem to react stronger to the moon phases here in Florida than they did when I was living in N C.

I have kept alot of logs over all of my night trips. And I found the best times for me were Moon up,Moon down or Sunup,Sunset.and  from Midnight to sunup.

I go to bassmaster.com you can go to the fishing tips tab and find best times to fish.  It tells you next to the times what the phases of the moon are.  I try to plan my fishing accordingly and 90% of the time the fishing really picks up during those times. (for me anyway)
