ToledoEF Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Whats your favorite no poll involved because of the selection. I love the red eye shad, its money where I fish. and the good ole rat l traps Quote
Bad to da Bass Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 My favorite would have to be the original Rat-L-Traps. 8-) Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 At the moment, xcalibur xr50, but just picked up a spro arukushad jr, so we'll see how that pans out. Quote
Super User Micro Posted February 15, 2009 Super User Posted February 15, 2009 Yo-Zuri Hardcore Drum. This bait has an extremely good action at very slow speeds. It doesn't plane to one side or the other when it sinks. I flutters nicely even on a slow rise. It rests on its nose on the botton with its tail up at 45 degrees. It comes with very good hooks. The finishes are fantastic. It's a wee bit expensive at $12.99. But IMO its a premium lipless and the price doesn't seem so high when you see it in action. I tried the Spro Aruku 75 today for the first time today. I like these a lot. It has all of the attributes of Yo-Zuri listed above. But it doesn't quite have the action of the Yo-Zuri at slow speeds. Not bad, though. Quote

njbasser Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Until now, I have only really used Rat-L-Traps, but I have already picked up some Aruku Shad, Red Eye Shad, Xr50, and am planning on picking up some Yo-Zuri's. I have heard good things about all of them. Quote
goldenone7710 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Another fan of the Strike King's Red Eye Shad and the XCalibur Hi-Tek Xr75. I'll throw the 1/2 oz bait only of the bite is slow. I prefer the 3/4 oz versions for bigger fish. I just bought one of each today in Sexy Shad color. Quote
Triton20XSD Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I like the Aruku Shad, Red Eye shad & Xcaliburs...all very good baits. Just bought a lucky craft LV7 in the offseason to try out. Quote
hawgchaser Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I have 2 boxes full of traps and my favorite by far are the Xr50 and the red eye shad. The blue/chrome/orange Xr50, the "east texas special" red eye shad, and both in craw color for early spring. All of these except the first pic were on Xr50 in blue chrome and east texas special in red eye shad. We caught over 40 total and both baits produced. Stringjam Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 How about a 3-way tie... Jackall TN-70 Cordell Super Spot Air Viper Risebacker (sound-less and sound-lo) Quote
ToledoEF Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 I really want to try yo zuri, but I have had so much success with red eyes that I dont want to switch, like my dad always says "If it aint broke dont fix it" Quote
Indiana Bass1 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 XR 50 is my favorite, I'm gonna try the aruka shad this year. I bought a red eye and never could get it tuned to run straight so I never bought another one. Quote
Bryant. Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I love throwin the lucky craft lv 100 in aroura craw. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted February 17, 2009 Super User Posted February 17, 2009 I probably like the action of the red eye shad the best...I also like the traps and the xr50 Quote
hjerk24 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Just bought some Lucky Craft LVR's D-7's yesterday. I got the Spring Craw, and the Mad Craw. I have thrown rattle traps, but have started to get into some Lucky Craft Stuff. Bit pricy, but a small gift to me. Anyone have luck with these baits...if you say NO...They stink...I will still be psyched to thrown them. Of course the..."yeah" they rock...is always a good response to hear! THX. I don't know how new these baits are, so if they just came out, then again, claim "idiocy!" Also, my first Tackle Warehouse purchase. Quote

I don't know how new these baits are, so if they just came out, then again, claim "idiocy!" Also, my first Tackle Warehouse purchase. Haha...I'm still undecided about them. They look absolutely awesome. I bought one in American Shad. Last year I was throwing into a group of schooling shad and accidently snagged one. When I held them side by size, the resemblance was uncanny. Almost identical in size and profile. The paint job mimicked the snagged shad almost perfectly. With all that said, I've yet to catch anything on it. I will say that I probably haven't given it a fair shake. I switched over to a Red Eye Shad and haven't had a reason to change back yet. I will say the action and subsequently vibration seems less than the Red Eye Shad to me. I'll give it another try this spring before I draw any final conclusions. Quote
Big Tom Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I like the Red Eye Shads a bunch. The new Rat-L-Traps are pretty nice too. I got a few Cotton Cordell spots that fish nicely. I think most of all, I am looking forward to trying out XCalibur's. Quote
shootermcbob Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I have had the most luck with the red eye shad..chrome with blue back. I have also fished rat-l traps, super spots, and rattlin rapala. Quote
