The old saying goes that too much of anything "can" be a bad thing may have a little merit. A bunch of great advice comes ahead of me. Ask mom nicely why it is a problem to her. She could be worrying that you are not being social enough IE "fri nights never at a party"

See if you can get dad on your side to run point a little for you.

If mom has a legit reason make sure you at least listen to her advice. Cut her a deal tell her you wil not go for next 2 fri nights if she will go with you once for 4 hrs. Make sure you take her on a beautiful 70 deg day with some sun and not windy ( every brownie point helps ). Once she goes and either likes it or sees how much you love it she might think differently about it. Maybe try to make a point to go to lunch with mom by yourself every now and then.

Remember life is usualy about good balance. You only get to be a kid once I repeat only once! You don't get to go back and do it over again. Don't be 20years down the road saying I wish I would have went out for a play. Or I wish I would have taken out that hot 16yr old blond! lol

Like RW said have a meeting with them and get their expectations. Try to pick their brains first to be ready to counter their thoughts or to back yours up.

Fighting fish illini, i have a g/f thankyou very much. Lol. I am socially interactive, mostly at school more than anywhere else. Yesterday i didnt fish,(don't act surprised..lol), my mom wouldn't let me go, so i went to the mall with my g/f instead. I mean, its not like i don't have any friends, because i have alot. Im just an average kid that loves fishing. You're true bout saying i am only a kid once but, look at how many years i got ahead of me, i think i got enough time for a wife. Plus, im in highschool, yes there is a chance i will marry this girl but, if i don't, theres college!

I think it's admirable that you fish instead of drugs, drinking, getting into trouble, but if you tried maybe fishing 4 days a week(that's still A LOT!!!) Mom might give you a little slack. You don't want to do something so much that you burn out on it.The fact that I only get to go lately once a week(if I'm lucky!) makes me truly appreciate the times when I am fishing. As was said,"Everything in moderation".

Sorry Bow I  must have missed checking the box on replies and didn't notice your Mar 3rd(?) post.

I don't know how we got on the subject from "hot blond" to a wife lol but I think we are on the same page.

How did you ever come out on this deal for the long run with mom?

Any negotiations or a meeting or an agreement?

Ask your mom to go fishing with you someday..

This isn't a bad idea plus maybe she will spring for some new equipment if you can get her hooked on it.  Fishing isn't the worst possible thing you could be doing.

Man ur mom sounds like a normal mom to me bro, i dont think its fishing she is against i think she is thinking that ur missing out on ur teenage years, thats how my parents were at first, but i go fishing after school, till dark, then go home take a shower pcik up the boys then some honies and chilll for the night, on the weekends ill fidh during the days and then go out and party. honestly my mom was happy when i told her i was going to a party becasue she wants me to be a "normal" kid. although i am a normal teen i mean i have a bazillion friends, getting girls not even a question ;) not to be cocky lol. um ur parents got it easy tho lol mine pay for all my stuff and always have even when i had a job they did lol, but now they are starting not to so much anymore becasue they just bought me a $17,000 car, and pay for my insurence. But they dont really dont have to big of a probelm wit me fishing except for at first when i couldnt drive and they ahd to take me. or if i have a couple of beers and i drive then my mom gets ticked lol.

there is definately such a thing as to much fishing for me.  if i leave on a thursday to go out of town to prefish and i get home on sunday i miss out on alot.  i enjoy fishing alot, but sometimes when i have a long weekend i miss my friends, hanging with girls, talking on the phone and being a teenager.  none of my friends have commitments that take up all there weekends.  some of them play travel hockey but its not a heavy schedule.

ive been fishing free for 3 days now and i have enjoyed every second of it.  im saying this as i tie on a swimbait and am fixing to head out to my lake.  lol

Bow, I got news for you.  I'm 53 years and my mother STILL worries about me.  That's a mothers job!!

Bow,

I can completely relate with your situation as a 17 year old junior in high school.

I only wish I had the time to fish every day after school.  With homework and a two jobs I am pretty much working 24/7.   I go to school, go to work, go home, do homework, and go to bed hopefully before midnight.  I dont do much outside of school because I dont have the time and try to get out and fish as much a I can.  I work so that I can pay to keep my truck running, and pay for boat gas and fishing supplies.  I dont have to worry about my mother stopping me from fishing because she doesnt live with me. So I dont have that problem.  But in my opinion there is definitely no such thing as too much fishing.

I THINK THE ANSWER WITH ALL FISHERMEN/WOMEN  WOULD BE NO, BUT WITH THE SIGNIFICANT OTHER....1 DAY A YEAR IS SOMETIMES TO MUCH FOR THEM....LOL
