My strangest, a 6' folding aluminum ladder. It hit on a 5" red shad Senko.

My wife caught a copperhead on a 4" senko. She landed the bait just on the edge of the bank, and the snake grabbed it just as she pulled it in the water. Got a little exciting for a few minutes.

Cheers,

I guess I should say that this was my strangest day fishing: Caught a 15 pound Carp on a crankbait, then caught a 3 feet long water snake on the same bait, then to finish off the day, I got into a school of bass and boated over thirty in about 45 minutes. Problem was, not a single one of the bass was legal size. They were all within 1/4 inch of being the same length. Fun anyway, except for the snake! :D

My 5 year old son was fishing of the rear platform of the houseboat for bluegill one evening (hook, sinker, and bobber) and when I cast it for him a small bat swooped down thinking the sinker was an insect. Well...anyway...after it slammed into the sinker it fell from the sky, obviously knocked out. My wife made me go get the poor little thing so it wouldn't drown and I put in a mason jar. A few hours later, it was fine.

My wife's uncle caught a couple of condoms within a week a part of each other.   He was fishing the Ohio river, hard telling what you might catch there.   Needless to say the crankbaits he caught them on didn't get returned to the tackle bag

Buddy in back of the boat accidently snagged the biggest rattlesnake we had ever seen swimming across the large pond we were fishing :o 17 rattles and I have pics of the spook stuck in him. Fought it to the bank and shot it...His dad cooked it.

Several large turtles, All snappers except a monster box turtle

5lb Bowfin killed a spinnerbait last year.

first cast one morning with a deep little N, 5 lb carp foul hooked.

Tournment last yr, throwing a C-rig Lizard around deep seawalls for bedding fish, Hooked a 15lb channel cat, fought it forever while my partner was freaking out thinking it was the lake record ;D Needless to say it was a let down >:(

Flyfishing small stream in north Ga for trout. Though I had a nice wild brookie, Nope 6inch crawfish had clamped down on my streamer.

Several Large catfish on flyrods.

Saltwater-

4+ foot wide stingray

Huge rock on a strong outgoing tide fishing a bridge at night....Not funny.

1st was when I was fishing on the Shenandoah River and caught a 1 1/2 lb. smallmouth which isn't unusual but the 2 ft. snake hanging out of it's mouth was. It hadn't finished shallowing the snake and it hit the little wee craw I was fishing.

2nd was a bullfrog on a weightless tubebait, fished over some pads. He was popping mad about it too. ;D

Even though I'm originally from Maine and now live in New Hampshire, both of my strangest catches were in Ohio.

I casted a crankbait a little to close to something I saw just offshore on the Ohio River. When I went to retrieve my lure, I realized that I had hooked a dead cow floating in the river.

At Grand Lake St. Mary's I noticed a group of fish on my depthfinder. I dropped a worm down there, felt a tap, set the hook and brought in two one pound catfish. The hook had gone into the side of one fish and then stabbed another one in the belly. :o

For the past 4 years, I have caught at least one rod/reel a year.  I am hoping to keep that streak alive with a Steez combo this year. ;D

I have caught a lot of strange stuff, basically all from one lake.  The wierd stuff always seem to bite on DD22s.

Last year in an all day deep crank-a-thon I caught an old old Coors can, followed by a bra, follwed by a pair of panties and then a lawn chair later in the day.

Age and time on the water produce some strange catches.

1. 5 gallon bucket filled with water skis, goggles, wading shoes, ski rope. Caught on plastic worm, flipping dock on Lake Gaston.

2. Double bottom rig, hooked in the top swivel. Twelve pound carp still attached to the bottom hook.

Tidal Potomac. "The Spoils"

3. Partner pulled in a cell phone. The original kind, in a large leather purse-like container with battery clips.

4. Floating dead fisherman on a tidal Chickahominy River creek. Took a floating Rapala. DID NOT disturb or bring in boat. Just notified and directed State Trooper to scene.

5. Many rod/reel combos in tidal Potomac River.

6. Six horsepower outboard in upper Potomac River.

7. Many manufactured and homemade anchors from the upper Potomac River.

I have 2

1.  Last spring I was throwing plugs for striper and walleye on a night when there was no moon.  Made a cast, just as the plug hit the water I thought I saw something moving along the bank, but it was so dark that night I thought I was seeing things.  The very next cast saw it again. When I started the retrieve I felt the tug.  It was an owl that picked my plug off of the surface.  After I got it to the boat I was reaching for the net to throw over it to keep from being flogged when it flew up.  The plug got caught in the carpet omn the boat and ripped it out of the owl, not even leaving a feather as a souvenier.

2.  Was fishing a 7" power worm in a night bass tournament when the rod tip jumped and kept shaking.  Knew it wasnt a fish so I turned on my headlamp to see the bat stuck between my rod and the line at the tip of the rod.  Bat was released unharmed.

i was catfishing last summer on the osage fork of the gasconade river. got a little hercules on the cast and put it up in a tree, although i didn't know it at the time. felt a thud and my fishing partner was telling me to wait. so i waiteed a little longer felt another thug and was like i'm setting this fish. set the hook and had one hell of a fight on my hand. apparently, squirles aren't to fond of being under water. it was a fun caatch though, the only darn thing we caught all night.

Besides the beach umbrella i caught i also caught a cormoran fishing with live bait for walleye!

The funny thing is the bird didn't surface for about 3-4 minutes and i really thought it was a fish.

It only surfaced about 6 feet in front with about 7 people gathered around me giving me dirty looks! :-[

I released it unharmed.

Fishing one day in late summer with a crankbait,  I hooked what I thought was the biggest bass in my life,  turned out to be a 28 inch channel cat.  I was disapointed and happy at the same time.   :(

While helping at  Family Fest  during the  Classic 05 in Pittsburg one of the little girls hooked into something that gave her a little fight it was pulling sideways. Upon lifting it out of the water  she had hooked a S-PAD right in the middle. Her mom asked what is that???? I kinda broke the news to mom quitley expecting a reaction.. YUP GOT one.  It was a rather large  one though, a MAXI I presume....

A few minutes later one of the boys hooked into a 17" Smallie which could have been the lunker for the entire Classic.

I once caught a chain pickeral (like a small northern pike) on a purple texas rigged worm. That seemed a bit odd to me.

I was nightfishing for catfish one time and on the first cast I got a bump and set the hook thought I had a snappin' turtle.Well I managed to drag in a size 12 work boot.I throwed it on the bank behind me and went back to fishin'.A couple hours and a few cat fish later my buddies were ready to call it quits.I whined and they agreed to stay with me for another final cast.About 10 minutes later i got another good bump and set the hook.I assured my buddies that this time it was definitely a snapper. It was the pther boot.We left for fear we might catch some part of the dead guy that was wearing them, lol.
