KenDammit28 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 what do you guys do to keep your confidence on those fishless days....or couple of days in my case. Its early in the year yet and the weather is real mix and match in KY right now...but man sometimes its so frustrating and disheartening to go blank when you feel like you're doing everything right. Kills the confidence. Today, I just had to put the rods down and relax and enjoy the weather just to let the frustration go. Anyway, what do you guys do to keep your confidence in your abilities and lures? Quote
mud Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Have a short memory! But seriously, I keep plugging. If I'm in a slump, I either switch to a slower easier to fish lure, such as a senko. Or I relocate. I don't let a slump affect me too much. I just remember to breathe and go back to where I started. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I keep fishing! beats working and sooner or later you break out of it anyway : Quote
KenDammit28 Posted March 14, 2007 Author Posted March 14, 2007 lol, I got blanked on a senko, horny toad, AND a finesse worm today At least it was almost 70-75 degree's out and sunny...beautiful day. I guess I can be thankful that I'm lucky enough to be able to go out and enjoy what this great planet has to offer. No fish, no loss other than a story or two, right? Quote
Guest avid Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 One day last week, and again this afternoon, I skipped using the boat and fished from the shoreline. I did pretty good both outings. Of course you have to remember that my lake is low from the florida drout so there is alot more fihsable areas, but I'm make a post about shore fishing. check it out. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted March 14, 2007 Super User Posted March 14, 2007 I take a break from Bass fishing once in awhile by targeting other species like whites, stripers, hybrids, or crappie. Sometimes catching supper does the trick. Matt Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 14, 2007 Super User Posted March 14, 2007 Man, it honestly doesn't bother me at all to get skunked. I know it's the fish's fault! Some days the fish don't bite...period. How 'bout all those days when the SHOULDN'T be biting? Those have, on occasion, been my very best days. Go figure. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 14, 2007 Super User Posted March 14, 2007 I will either change lakes or change what I am fishing for. If those bass don't want their picture taken with me its their problem. Quote
LONGEARS Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Hmmmm,Fishless days Sorry,guess I don't understand the question Quote
zachvii Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 This time a year i start with my fast moving baits such as jerkbaits and I slowly work my way backwards all the way to drop shot with 1 inch baits. If you are confident in the water you are fishing and know that the area holds fish then just try your best with whatever you have and never give up. Quote
Shad_Master Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 I use those days to try to figure out what went wrong and use them as a way to improve what I am doing. It is especially helpful if somebody else is catchin 'em and I'm not as I will try to learn what they did. I have had a chance to get out three times this week (first time all winter) and have yet to have a serious bite. These are days when I can work on my casting, try out some new technique, etc. I know I can catch 'em when they get more active, but right now is an opportunity to learn so I will be ready when they are. CFFF 1.5 Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 I always go to my favorite spot and tie on my favorite lure, sometimes you just need a spot and lure you are confident in. Confidence plays a big part in catching fish. If you are confident you will make better casts and pay more attention to what your lure is doing in the water and in return you will get more hits. Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 14, 2007 Super User Posted March 14, 2007 CFFF WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wish I could be in Florida. Quote
vaparrothead Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Always remember "A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office" Quote

I actually did a little practice while I was out yesterday. I sharpened up my pitching by just picking spots and throwing different lures in it. Hadn't gotten as rusty as I thought...so that was an "upper" Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 I just go to the lake not planning on catching. Anything you hook up with is an extra. Lake Fork really tested this one last year and sure enough, this Sunday, I'll be back. Helps you remember what's it's about too. For me anyway. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted March 14, 2007 Super User Posted March 14, 2007 Sometimes I believe we think too much. I've planned everything down to the last detail regarding location and lures that should be correct for the situation and failed to get a bite on occasion. Some of these occasions I've relaxed and fished a more general pattern such as cruising lake points, or just allowed my boat to drift across a cove while fishing and broken the skunk. Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 On days when I'm not catching, I'll take some time and explore the lake a little more. I'll try to mark new structure that might hold fish on future trips. I don't worry too much about not catching, it only takes one (the right one) to make a great trip. Quote
