BassChaser57 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I used to fish with a guy that ate sardines or vienna sausages. JUST HAD A BRAINSTORM--- New diet, send me only $19.95 per week and I will send you all the sardines you need for 3 rib sticking meals. You only eat sardines and you will either lose weight or lose friends--maybe both. Probably not like the Dan Marino "Improve your sex life diet." 8-) Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 2, 2007 Super User Posted March 2, 2007 Usually a 2- liter of Mt. Dew, and some apples or oranges. If its on the way I'll swing by White Castle and pick up some belly bombers. Quote
bocabasser Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 i always try to eat a good breakfast. coffee in the a.m., lemonlime gatorade, water and lots of oranges. there is one lake i fish that has the largest lo-quat tree i have ever seen, and in the summer that thing has golfball sized fruits. there have been numerous times that i was so dialed in to my fishing, that i don't eat at all.must be the chronic. Redtail Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 While I'm getting ready to leave in the morning I boil some water. Pour the boiling water in a wide mouth thermos ($10 at walmart) and drop in a few hot dogs. Don't forget to bring the hot dog rolls and condiments. A hot lunch on the boat is soooooo good. I love to watch the reaction of my first time friends on the boat when I break out the hot dogs! Grey Poupon Anyone? Quote

I will definitely give this one a try. Thanks Redtail! Ronnie Quote

Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 2, 2007 Super User Posted March 2, 2007 I very rarely get hungry while fishing. Don't know why?? But the minute I am off the water, that's a different story. I always bring about a gallon of water and my tackle bag always has a couple protein bars should I get hungry. A lot of times too I chew pistachios like most people chew sunflower seeds. Quote
JT Bagwell Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 ;DYes, I take bananas in the boat JT, lol, I like to live on the edge. For all you young guys: Please don't attempt to carry bananas in your boat. This should only be attempted by old buggers like me. Again, don't try this at home. ;D LMAO ;D ;D ;D Quote
Super User T-rig Posted March 2, 2007 Super User Posted March 2, 2007 I allways forget to eat when i'm fishing and when i get home i raid the fridge. Quote
GSxTC Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I'm probably missing something, but what is the deal with bananas in the boat? I've never done it, but curious as to why not? Quote
flyphisher # Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Many,Many Varibles.....Depends on where i am fishing, who i am fishing with, whether I am in my boat, whether I am in friends' boat, if we left the lakehouse or put in at the ramp, Time of year......most of all if the fish are biting or not and the view of bikinis.... Always have to have bottled water, mountain dew, smoke, sunflower seeds. Starting to really miss the Copenhagen I quit last year. Dont eat much unless its a rough day. Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Cold fried chicken is my all time favorite fishing food. You can eat it with one hand and hold your worm rod in the other. No prep needed, no dirty hands on bread, and when you're done, the bones go in the lake. I buy a whole fried chicken from Wal-Mart for around $5, and split it with my partner. My second favorite is the RW special. Quote
bassboy1 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I'm probably missing something, but what is the deal with bananas in the boat? I've never done it, but curious as to why not? It is an old sailors superstition that it is bad luck. I personally don't take them because I cannot catch fish as it is. Don't need any extra bad luck. Quote
bassboy1 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Also, never use banana boat sunscreen. Seems dangerous just by reading the label. ;D Quote
Captain Cali Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Most of the time a king size Snickers bar and a bottle of water. For long days I pack a sandwich along with other snacks. Salmon jerky is one of my favorites. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 On the way to pick up my buddy I usually have a bannana and a nature valley granola bar. I bring a D&D hot chocolate for those chilly mornings, and a few waters to wash it all down. Quote
bigdog Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 For those that bring along tea on a hot day, did you know that tea is a diuretic? If you are going to drink anything while it is hot, drink either water (the best) or a sports type drink (Gatorade, Powerade). Fluids like tea, pop, etc. do not hydrate. Decaf tea with no sugar will hydrate you.Dennys restraunt would only let the cooks drink water or decaf tea with no sugar. out fishing the mornings diet mt. dew with fruit afternoons sandwiches with decaf tea no sugar and maybe snickers and lots of water inbeentween... titowoody Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Fishing out of a kayak sure builds up the appetite, that and catching Beaucoup de fish. ;D I carry almonds and raisins for a quick pick me up. In a pinch there is always ye olde Kit Kat. 8-) As many have mentioned lots of water and of course the proverbial cold one at the end of a great day on the water. Cheers TW Quote
eastkybass Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Lots of water and usually a Gatorade or two. Atleast one sandwich varies what type. I also usually carry one apple to eat. Quote
Floridabassking352 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I NEVER eat when I'm on the water, even if I'm hungry. I find it too nerve-racking to stop fishing and just eat because I know while I'm eating that big lunker could be cruising by. I always think I'll miss an opportunity. On the rare occasions I do bring food, my dad eats it but I always leave it untouched. I will drink some water though. Quote
bassmaster8100 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 About 90 percent of the time a day of fishing for me equals no food til late that night. I usually bring several bottles of gatorade and ocassionally Ill pack a couple of sandwiches. Quote

I quit it when I started bass fishing. It was just to big of a hassle getting everything out to eat and then putting it all away again. Quote
Garnet Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 100 mph pizza that would be your walkin specail. Don't try the loaded up one you will look like it. I start drinking water a couple days in advance if I'm not fishing and eat when moving from spot to spot. It's specaily important for multi day tournaments for me. Garnet Quote
