What do you pack for a day on the lake?

I've been known to pack a bunch of sandwiches and never touch them.  Or chow down on an MRE during a fit of crazy hunger.

To tell you the truth, I just never get all that hungry on the water.  Or I'm just too busy to think about eating.

I used to never eat while fishing but, I don't think that is healthy. If you eat a little something I also find you feel better at the end of the day. I usually take along some deer bologna, sharp cheese and crackers, some fruit like a banana or a apple and a jug of iced tea along with plenty of water.

I absolutely have to eat something. I have a tremor condition that demands it.  If I don't eat, my hands/fingers don't work.  I have no preference about what I eat, but I have to eat something.  I usually pack a couple of simple ham and swiss sandwiches with me and eat them while on the water.

I usually carry beef jerky & plenty of water.  If I am going to be out all day I will carry a couple cans of beanie weanies and a pack of crackers.

I don't get much chance to fish, so when I do I'm out for the day. I usually pack a cooler with a few good sized bottles of water, a few turkey sandwhiches with wheat bread, mircale whip, lettuce, and tomato(all good sources of energy for me), and some fruit cups. I also take a few nibblets along in my tacklebox or backpack. Usually some granola bars and trail mix.

Since I go out early in the morning I may also take a thermos with some coffee. Oh, and I always have Rockstar energy drink in the cooler as well. I think I'm addiced to it...lol

If I'm fishing early in the morning I always pack a thermos of coffee, it helps to wake me up and I always try to eat before I get on the water because once I get started on the lake I want to be fishing as much as possible.

For lunch, nothing can beat a PBJ sandwich.  Bring lots of water or tea when the weather is warm.  I also always have a pack of beef jerky on the boat.

For night fishing, I rarely bring anything to eat, just plenty of sodas, tea, or waters.

I'm pretty sure that I have a tapeworm, but for some reason he doesn't like to eat when I'm out on the water... I usually just pack some water when the sun is going to be out.

For those that bring along tea on a hot day, did you know that tea is a diuretic?  If you are going to drink anything while it is hot, drink either water (the best) or a sports type drink (Gatorade, Powerade).  Fluids like tea, pop, etc. do not hydrate.

I used to take only something to drink.  Now I take a small lunch and a 15 minute lunch break.  If I am fishing several days in a row, I keep a three Musketeer's bar in the lunch bag so I can get a quick sugar pickup late in the day if I need it.

Day or Night: 32 oz bottle of Lemon/Lime Gatorade

Days: Most of the time I will not eat and if I do it's a Egg & Cheese Sandwich from KK's Marina

I start night fishing during the April full moon and continue until the October full moon

Night time I'll stop to eat at midnight: Ham & Cheese on wheat, Boudin, or Cold Fried Chicken

;DYes, I take bananas in the boat JT, lol, I like to live on the edge.  :)

For all you young guys:  Please don't attempt to carry bananas in your boat. This should only be attempted by old buggers like me. Again, don't try this at home. ;D

If we are heading out for the 3am shift, it's a thermos os coffee and a few blueberry muffins for when the sun comes up.

If it is a mid-day or evening outting, P B & J's hold up well and are packed with energy.  One of Erics big accounts is a pizza place on the way to the lake, a free pie goes a long way after 4 hrs on the water too.

Water is also a must.

If I'm going to be out all day, I will have an egg sandwich & OJ and a cup of java on the way to the boat ramp. On the water a couple of immitation meat sammiches, some cheese peanutbutter crakers & a soda or bottled water. On my electric only lake, it's about a 20 minute cruise betreen my honey hole areas. I will eat my lunch while cruising across the lake.

When it comes to eating when fishing, I try to keep it as simple as possible.  An egg sandwich in the morning (which usually gets eaten before the boat is launched), and a couple PBJs for lunch is about all I need.  For drinks, I'll bring 2 cups of coffee (cuz I know I'm gonna spill one), a litre of H2O, and a couple of Vitamin Waters, usually the power one, but the revive is a great one if I had been "over served" the night before.
