tillerybass Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 How do you guys buy your fishing tackle? Do you go to stores like Bass Pro, or do you buy off the internet like at ***? Quote
Super User CWB Posted February 14, 2009 Super User Posted February 14, 2009 If you're looking for a rod or reel, I think it's best to check them out in person at the store of your choice. If none close, T.W. is probably your best bet. Beware of the stickers though. Bass Pro or Cabelas are good too. There are quite a few specialty sites also that cater more toward high end or tournament equipment. Do a google on what you are looking for to start. Quote
T-Bone Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Both. When I need something that I plan on using in a the next couple days I go to the store. If the bait monkey needs a quick fix and I don't need it immediately, then I will usually order online because I can find better deals. Quote
EastTexasBassin Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 I'll shop around online to see what I want, but I always end up buying my stuff in person. I'm fortunate to have a Basspro, Dick's sporting goods, FishingWorld, and Barlow's Tackle within a 20 minute drive from where I live. With Barlow's I can call in an order from the catalog, then just swing by and pick it up on my way home from work. Makes it so hard to resist the bait monkey... Quote

djmax22 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Buying online is the way to go. No sale tax in most cases and you can always get a better price. Quote

Thats true for price BUT I like to support the local guys as much as possible. They provide the latest info on all the baits and lakes around here. They know where to go and what to throw. They also need our business to compete with the big boys. Don't get me wrong, I order stuff online and love Academy but I try to buy all my specialty baits at these local places. Quote
IDbasser Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I order most of my stuff. That is because I have to due to not having any selection around here. Quote
