How many of you guys kiss the fish you catch. I don't know how i thought of this, but it's always been a tradition of mine to at least kiss the first fish that i catch. I was just wondering how many of you guys did this. That and do any others have any "rituals" they perform everytime you go out fishing. Wierd topic but i thought i would ask it. I started kissing my fish when my friend told me to once on a dare. Then the rest of the day the fishing was great so i just kept doing it.

I kiss all the fish I catch. I tell them thank you when I let them go to.

The wierd part is when i catch the first fish of the day and I do the happy happy fish dance

Its kinda like the cabbage patch with a hook set at the end  ;D

haha, I don't know about kissing my fish, but I do like to talk to them...tell them their beautiful and give em a gently pat on the back before releasing them.

i have to say, there is nothing like a conversation witha fish. They listen very well. Ha. It's nice to know fisherman are trying to relate to their fish. ha.

I always say "thanks little buddy" every time I catch a fish.  Dunno why, its just something I've always done.  No kissing and hugging and all that stuff, but I guess I like to let mother nature know that I treasure the gifts she gives us.

I would express my feelings for the fish, but I'd probably be sent packing.   ;)

I don't hug them.

I french kiss mine! :o

um, ouch.

I kissed one once and her lip caught on my lip and those cool scratches you get on your thumb don't feel so cool on your lip.  Of course I still kiss 'em but I'm more careful now, lol.

Ha,ha. I have kissed all my bass for years. I take a ribbing for it. I have been guiding for 17 years and I have a few clients that do the same thing, lol. I am wondering to myself how many fish I have kissed over the last thirty odd years. I don't even remember when I started this practice. I don't kiss the fish we catch around Three Mile Island though, no way, nada. I will say this, some of the fish I have kissed are prettier than some of my most recent dates !!! :)

LBH, don't french kiss them, they scratch the heck out of your tongue !!!  ;D

I know, I know, I get too aggressive sometimes,lol.

I do believe that this one kiss gave my immune system a run for it's money.  You always hear about the bacteria, microbes and parasites associated w/ freshwater fish and that's all I could think of for the rest of the day because it doesn't just sting, it's like a burn/itch.  I was actually nervous about it by the end of the day but by day 2 , it was gone so back to chasin' the girls. :)

I kiss the bigger ones, but almost always tell the rest of them thank you and how pretty they are.  Then ask them to send me their momma or grandma! :D

I dont kiss every fish, I'm alittle more particular. They have to get me in the mood first by putting out...I mean UP a good fight. having a good full body is a plus and I'll kiss any fish that will give me the shakes! :D

Hey T-rig, I'd love to see that !!!  :-) LOL

I've kissed a few of them, but ordinarily I just thank them for coming into my boat for a photo session and weighing :-)

I'll tell you what I have always kind of tripped on though.... You guys ever hold a bass sideways to you, and shift their head towards and away from you ? I swear they will shift their eyes back and forth so they can keep looking straight at you ! Pretty weird. Try it. But don't trip on it too long.... get her back in the water ASAP...... if you want the chance to catch her again, when she is even bigger.....

Peace,

Fish

Hey Fish!

I notice that one in your avatar is smiling. What did you do to her?

Maybe I am the only one ..... but I have had a few of them tell me I was beautiful.

As for the post .... I don't kiss and tell ;)

I must admit, I'm a fish-kisser, too.  I don't kiss them all (usually the bigger ones), but I like to talk to them. I'll tell the little ones to go grow up and I'll tell the big mama's to go back to making babies (I guess I could tell the little buck bass that, too.)  I don't want the bass to suffer from low self-esteem.  What's more fun is to see the one's who wave goodbye with their tailfin and do a little dance for me across the water as I let them go.

OK, now this is a thread called 'kissing your fish'. It is almost two pages long now. I'm beginning to wonder if I should be worried about some of my BR buddies here. There's not a "Lonely Hearts Bass Club" out there? Is there?
