Have never used the Yum Craw bug, but I have used the Chigger Craw. I only used them as jig trailers, and I really didn't find them to be anything worth bragging about. I seen a few guys talk highly about them, particularly t-rigging them, and pegging them, but I've never tryed em that way.

As for when I used them on jigs, from my experienced they're not what I would call an "action trailer", meaning they don't kick too much, or give off alot of action. They to me, tend to be more of a lethargic trailer. And in this case I much rather prefer a yum chunk, or zoom super chunk.

However, I do still use them. I use them when the fish aren't being picky, and are acting extremely aggressive. I'll typically use them alot when im fishing dink infested waters, or when im just in the mood for something different. I only buy them when they're on sale, Dicks usually has them and a bunch of other baits for incredibly low prices at a certain time of the year (which slips my mind..). You can then buy them at around 75cents a pack. All in all, that berkley scent is a great producer, so thats always a plus with any of their baits.

The Chigger craw is the absolute worst plastic ever invented. It is so bad I have decided to collect all unused bags so that I can "send" them back to Berkley!

Actually I love Chigger craws!! They are very similar to the YUM product you mention as well as the Paca chunk.

Now if you want something good, get yourself some Ragetail craw chunks! Those chunks have some amazing action on the fall!

The first 3 mentioned dont flutter as well as the Rage tail chunk on the fall. They flutter moreso on the pull, or hop. While the Ragetail products flutter when a minnow swims past and farts!

Either.

Just as long as the tips of the claws are chartreuse.  ;)

Whatever the case make sure you use them with a weight. I tried the chigger craw weightless. I think it took it like 10 seconds to sink like 5-6 feet.

The Paca craws and chunks are hard to beat. They have amazing action and seem to be very popular on this forum.

i would definitely go with the chigger craw, i use them as trailers alot and i really like them as a trailer or texas or carolina rigged.they're great plastics.the new chigger craw crazy legs looks pretty good to, especially when you may need that extra bit of vibration for situations such as fishing in off colored water

another vote for the chigger craw...better price, better durability, better action, better profile, slower fall, more versatility (easier to t-rig if you want a smaller profile)...it's a great bait.  I haven't tried the Rage Tail craws, I bet they're awesome, but I just can't see myself spending that kind of money on soft plastics that I know will get torn up easily...

I have had success with both the berkley chigger craw and the yum craw bug.I generally use the green pumpkin or watermelon and on a texa rig. I use a wide gap hook on the chigger craw,it is a little thicker and I had a problem with it balling up on the hook during the hook set.I bought some paca craws last year but never used them.

I love the Yum crawbugs, and have tried the chigger craws and didn't really care for them, so  for that type of craw I stick with the Paca craws.

As for the craw bugs, I fish them alot, and alot of different ways. My favorite use for them is as a trailer on finesse jigs,  they are just so natural looking and acting fish gobble them up. My best results have been with the 2.75" one on a 1/4 oz strike king bitsy flip jig. I also like the small baby craw bugs as a drop shot bait. I really didn't use the bigger 3.5" ones with much success till last year. Prior to that I flipped them, used them as a trailer, and really had limited success with them, and lost confidence in them when in the same spots I would go back and fish a tube/beaver/jig w/almost any other trailer and get bit. BUT I finally found a home for them, I had great results rigging them on a 3/8 oz. plain football head and dragging them across rocks or on the deep weed edge.  I had a killer day with them in my second to last tournament last fall doing this, while almost every one else was fishing weeds, I got on this pattern with that bait and slayed them. So they will stay in my boat .
