I'm Super New To Fishing...Needs Advice

I'm Brian and I'm a complete newbie at this.

I heard great fishing stories from my angler friends and found them to be really interesting and amazing

So I thought I might check out this sport to see if it's worth taking up.

Here's my advice. Don't go out and buy everything. Pick a category of lure and buy a few and use them until you get the hang of each one. Then buy a different category and do the same until you are comfortable with a variety of lures.

The other advice is to read this forum, the articles on the website, watch fishing shows on tv, and read fishing magazines. That is the best way to help you get more fishing knowledge. Then of course, the best way to transform knowledge into fishing ability is to get out on the water.

Welcome to the site. I do not post much but I have been reading every day for at least a year. I like to think that I learn something every day. The key to fishing is to have fun. It does not matter what you do as long as you have fun. The more you learn the better you will become. That means you will catch more fish. More fish = more fun. Do not be afraid to ask questions. The best advice I could give one who is new to the sport of bass fishing is...stay away!! It will consume you, bass fishing will empty your wallet, it will start fights with your significant other, it will make you too sick to show up for work, it will keep you up all night shaking and sweating, it will give you nightmares about a 10lber breaking your line, bass fishing will make you go hours, even days without eating, it will cause severe wind and sunburn, it WILL control you!! But best of all, bass fishing will give you a high you will never experience from anything else in this world.
