mattm Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Very nice rattle baits. I think you will be pleased. Quote
mike bat Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 you catching fish one these ??? or do they just look real nice ,,, cause they do look real NICE ... ;D Quote
mattm Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I do catch fish on them. I think they really excell on presured waters. They cost just enough that most folks don't fish them so it gives the fish something just a little different. If you are good trap fisherman I bet you end up happy. Quote
mike bat Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 thanks for the info ... i just wanted to hear what the anglers here thought of the baits .... they sure look nice ,, i love the colors and good quality componits ... as far as the price its not too bad ,,, but again i just hope they catch bass .... ;D Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 11, 2009 Super User Posted February 11, 2009 Look back a page or two for a thread titled "Rat-L-Trap Type Lures". I have several Xr50 traps, but one is VERY special for some unknown reason. Maybe color isn't all that important, but be sure to pick up a Chrome Blue/ Orange anyhow! http://www.xcaliburtackle.com/photo_pop.asp?images/XCalibur_Baits_Rattle_Chrome_Blue_Full.jpg 8-) Quote
Super User Micro Posted February 11, 2009 Super User Posted February 11, 2009 The 75 size has been productive for me. Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 RW is right on this - Thanks Kent for enlightening me. Never heard of 'em before he brought them up & the chrome/orange is a beaut. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted February 11, 2009 Super User Posted February 11, 2009 The Xr50 was my most productive lipless crankbait last season. For clear water: Chrome/Blue/Orange or Pearl Melon. For slightly stained water: Royal Shad. Falcon Quote
Super User CWB Posted February 11, 2009 Super User Posted February 11, 2009 Will definitely be trying them this tear. I'm a Redeye Shad guy and will need to be convinced. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Will definitely be trying them this tear.I'm a Redeye Shad guy and will need to be convinced. Get them use them, something about the different shape. They are deadly at Braidwood. Quote
hawgchaser Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 One of my 2 favorite lipless baits. If I am using a steady retrieve then its my favorite. When I fish a flat that goes into a drop off, I LOVE the Red Eye shad. I can burn it then let it drop and the red eye flutters straight down without turning sideways and triggers A LOT of bites. It is the most versatile trap. But back to the XR50. In late winter/early spring, I throw the orange craw almost exclusively. Any other time, chrome/blue is the color. My buddy swears by an XR50 in the color ghost minnow? (I think that is the color but I could be wrong) I have never thrown it on a trap but its a great color on a Jimmy. Quote
KevO Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Awesome baits. I used the XRK75 (one knocker) on Sunday and caught five bass ranging from 2-6.1 lbs. Needless to say I plan on buying 10 more next time I'm at BPS. Quote
fishintroop Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 It's the only lipless bait I have ever caught any fish on Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 The XR series baits are great baits. I have all three sizes in both standard and one knocker. Make sure your try both. i have days when a quieter bait like the one knocker works better. I know a lot of guys hate the "sexy shad" color craze, but the Foxy Shad color is a great shad color. I like the Xr version of this color best because the back is a darker blue. Brad Quote
mike bat Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT ... thanks for the heads up ,, looks like i picked some good baits ... i cant wait for the ice to melt ... as of now i grabed a few of the red colors ,, reds seem to do well here ... i will get that blue orange tho RW thanks for the heads up ... you guys catch any smallys on the xr50s ??? Quote
njbasser Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I picked 2 up at Dick's Sporting Goods last night due to the recommendations here. They look great! Can't wait til the ice melts. > Quote
Triton9 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 i bought three of these about 6 months ago, and had one just flat out did not work, and it eventually broke.but the other two work great! i have caught some nice smallies on em' along with nice largemouth Quote
SkilletSizeBass. Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I've been reading how Roadwarrior said he really likes the xr-50 chrome/blue/orange lately, and I went to BPS to pick one up yesterday, but got distracted by the Pearl Melon color instead. ;D Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 12, 2009 Super User Posted February 12, 2009 ... you guys catch any smallys on the xr50s ??? No, but at Guntersville last year I caught three bass on five casts. It was my lure on the Roadtrip last year. 8-) Quote

The chrome/blue/orange is THE color. SAs mentioned earlier I throw red early spring but any other time, this is the only color to throw! Quote
Stasher1 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 There's a dealer on Ebay selling them in sets of 4 for $20. The sets include a chrome/black, chrome/blue/orange, gold/black, and pearl melon. Nice variety at a decent price. Quote
Indiana Bass1 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 The XR50 is one awesome bait. I used to be a rat-l-trap man but the last few years they don't seem to hold up as well.It seems like I was always tuning the bait after catching a few bass. The XR 50 takes a beating and keeps on running true. The Chrome with the black back is my "GO TO" color. Probably because I caught an 8 and a half pounder on it two years ago in March. I have this bait in several colors though. From this post I will throw the chrome and blue a little more now.Has anybody had any luck fishing the Araku Shad? I read an article that really has me wanting to try some of those as well. Quote
