OK, February 12th and I just sent 3rd request to Charlies web-site (not ESPN)

I included the link to this post and simply asked them to re-contact ESPN again and please ask them to reply to us.

I got an email from Charlie's people today.  Keep in mind that this is not ESPN, just the people who forward the stuff to them.  This is a copy of the email.

Russ,

  We have recieved and forwarded your challenges to the ESPN staff. Unfortunatley they get about 40,000 challenges a year and are unable to grant them all. Because of the large volune of challenges they are also unable to call each challenger back with a yes or no answer.  We appreciate your patience with this matter however the producers at ESPN are the ones who make the decisions about the challenges.  We have submitted your challenges as well as forwarded all correspondences between us to ESPN. Thank you once again for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Now what I don't get is that why does Charlie Moore keep antagonizing people to challenge him if there is more than 6 months worth of unanswered challenges?  We first sent this in Oct. and they still havn't even read it yet with 40,000 emails sitting there.  This is fine,  I understand, but please tell Charlie  NOT to ask MORE people to send in their challenge if it most likely won't be addressed.

In conjunction with Glenn's approval, I challenged Charlie Moore on behalf of BassResource.com. This is a copy of the challenge I sent.

"I am a 38 yr old UPS driver and also a moderator on bassresource.com. I am also the regional events coordinator for C.A.S.T. for kids foundation.

As a representative of bassresource.com, I would like to challenge you to a team event. We will put together a team of 4-5 moderators/members to fish against yourself and 4 or 5 teammates. The hitch is we don't want the 5k.The money will go to the winners charity, ours being a C.A.S.T. for kids event in Charlies home town. We are expanding into the northeast this year and would love to launch alongside Charlie Moore, "NEW ENGLANDS" mad fisherman.

LBH-  Just a thought, but they probably don't even consider most of those challenges.  I'm sure the producers of the show set up the challenges with "big-name" people.  I don't catch the Charlie Moore show alot, but I've yet to see someone who isn't an athlete, singer, or other type of celebrity.  I would imagine that the purpose of challenging everyone is to get some sense of viewership by the number of e-mails they receive.  I am dissapointed in the fact that you didn't even get a form e-mail sooner.  That' s pretty low-class of them.

Just for the record, it is now June 6th and still no word from ESPN or Charlie Moore.

I still have folks emailing me to ask where we stand with this. We stand in the same ignored, frustrated spot. No follow up. No communication, nothing.

LBH-being new this is the first I heard about this.  I really hope that they actually consider this challenge.  What a good cause man!!  If you need any help setting up a CAST program in the south central PA area let me know.  I'll do what I can.

Just remember, if Charlie don't win, it's not a show.  They aren't looking for the best fishermen--they are looking for the best entertaining fishermen.  I bet he'd accept if he was challenged by Reel lady!

Guys lets face it...They have havilacek on the show, nugent on the show, zona on the show ,one of the editors of bassmasters magazine on the show, there having a defensive lineman on the show,..the theme here is showbiz and name recognize people..Have you ever seen on his show someone who wasnt somewhat of an celebrity..I am an insurance salesman who probably  could BEAT CHARLIE MOORE..but  I am not a name that people recognizes..Its about the bottom line..I would love to see this happen but you have to have some sense of reality and business sense..shows are paid by who wants to advertise and where they think the best spots will be..Good luck but dont get to frustrated..Thank god you can still go fishing.. ;D

BBfool-Your point is quite valid but if you think back the show was based on the fact that the every day guy at home can challenge this guy. It actually ran that way for the first few seasons. Now however, you are correct. It's been nothing but name recognition type people.

Bassman- I not a jerk, I let my girlfriend and nieces beat me all the time,lol. I was planning on letting him win but they won't even answer me.

With your talent for the graphics and movies, we can have some real training and education going on.  You could produce some footage on Flukes, the carolina rig, baits we like, etc.  How about that!

Yes,I have seen quite a few shows with him fishing gainst a "regular Joe".

You know, the problem might be the challenge itself. The idea is excellent, no doubt. But I think for them to get 5 Pros to compete might be a bit much. LBH, maybe you should challenge him yourself(kind of a match fishing deal). Or maybe a two man team thing where you and another guy fish against Charlie and his partner. You have to look at it from ESPN's point of veiw. I think the whole idea of getting 5 Pros fisherman to compete on this one episode is just to much for them.  We all know how the money factor comes into play when it comes to this kind of stuff. Awsome idea though.

Now I have no idea if this is the case or not and I certainly ain't trying to rain on anyones parade just thought I'd throw out some food for thought was all.
