Fish Chris Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I'll start it. Even though it has been quite some time since I caught a teener, I really expect to stick a 16 to 17 plus this year. Every year my home lake Berryessa kicks out 2 to 5, 16 to 17lb plus fish, yet my PB from this lake is only a 12.4. All of my really big bass have come from little trout ponds. I just feel like I'm due to get a giant from my 22,000 acre home lake. Also, I hope / expect to get my first double digit Northern strainer. Got three 9's last year. And finally, I hope / expect to get a 7 plus Smallie. Almost embarrasing that my current PB is only a 5.7...... But I really expect to just skip right past the 6's :-) Who's next ? Peace, Fish Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted January 8, 2007 Super User Posted January 8, 2007 I'm going with 7 in '07. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Im hopin for an 8 but predicting a 7 to top my pb of 6. Hopefully I can get out there soon. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 8, 2007 Super User Posted January 8, 2007 In '04 I couldn't break 8lbs. In '05 I couldn't break 9lbs. Last year my best was 9.98lbs. So this is going to be my year. With the trip to Fork and then coming home just in time for the Lake Varner spawn it should be perfect. I am moving into the double digits this year. That's all I want to do, just break 10lbs. Quote
RiskKid. Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Since I've only been at this a couple of years I'd like to catch a 5 pounder........maybe at the Fork : Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 8, 2007 Super User Posted January 8, 2007 Since I've only been at this a couple of years I'd like to catch a 5 pounder........maybe at the Fork : I hope I can help you with that. Quote
craigaria Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I'm hoping to finally get one over 11 lbs. I've caught 2 over 10 lbs... But, Ill take some 7's, 8's, 9's, well actually I'll take whatever I can set the hook on! Quote
Guest JoshKeller Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 one more 10lber than in 06. So 4 10+ lbers in 2007, and at least one single 5 bass limit day of 35+ lbs. Quote
Randall Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I want a fifteen pounder in '07. I saw a couple on Lake Varner last year during the spawn that I am guessing were around 15lbs and there was a 15lb floater found this past summer so I know they are in the lake. I lost a 15lb 8oz fish a couple years ago only to have a bank fishermen catch it the next day and the only way to get the picture out of my mind of that fish throwing the hook is to catch another one just as big. Bryant. Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I'm hoping for a teen fish ;D, but I'll be happy with anything over 8. Quote
justfishin Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I am going to be realistic for these Maryland Waters. I am going for a 9 green this year and a 6 brown one. For some reason it seems the 6's are getting rare on the Potomac and Susquehanna. Its funny what ten years will do to a fisherie. Oh, and Randall, I think you must have died and went to heaven. Those are some awesome numbers you are throwing out. I wish you luck. I could only imagine living around stock like that. Those are some hawgs. :)By the way, has anyone noticed the trend on sizes related to the region everyone is from? Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted January 8, 2007 Super User Posted January 8, 2007 i'm in ny so i'm going with and 8 lber. Quote
Painter Dude Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Here it is! It's 1/16/07 It's a cool crisp morning on the Stick Marsh with the sun just poppin up on the horizon. George Welcome idles into what the locals call " The HOLE". There is barely a ripple as the steam from the 74 degree water rises up to greet us. I tie on my new SNAKE ( I hope it gets here in time) and toss it into the abyss. As i slowly titch it across the matted grass out of the fog I here KABOOOSHHH. 11 lbs 7 ozs Pics to follow Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I'm with Dodgeguy, I'll be very happy to match last yrs 8.3 Quote
Vyron Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I want an 8 pounder and that means Cyprus record. Its extremely difficult 2 do it but I hope I ll do it. Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 A new pb. And i am going to get it from a real lake, not the same old farm pond. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Rock- Home is where the heart is. You had a great year in that little farm pond. That qualifies it as a REAL lake! (to me anyway) Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I've only got one real shot to fish good weather and that will be April while I'm on leave. Post spawn for Louisiana. I'll only be able to get one ONE day, two max in a row-boat with my usual 6'6 Quantum TE rod and baitcaster reel. I only have one tacklebox available...the one with my jigs and hula grubs. The lake is huge with tons of cover with no outstanding features in Louisiana. sounds bad? I got a feeling this is the one trip where I'm going to hang my 10lber. Gotta go against the odds and always root for the underdog. Everything is against me with the exception I have my favorite rod and reel and favorite baits. I've gotta make it a big trip since this is going to be the only good one this year. Good news is if y'all are doing Fork next year, I'll have my 18ft Xpress with that Yamaha 150 Vmax. Thank god for combat pay Quote
Valascus Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I am going to be pretty realistic for the state of MO as far as the area I fish are concerned. I am going to saty on my 5 lb goal I never even got a whiff of last year. Pretty hard to find the pig from the bank, so I think I am going to be trying to get more boat time...even if that means I am paddling. I'll have a good chance in April at Little Dixie I think. As far as smallmouth go, I would be content just to catch one. Never even hooked one of the little brown scrappers. I have found a section of the Big River in MO that is not far from here that hold Smallmouth...and wouldn't ya know my cousin lives right on that section of river with a boat. I think I will start pretty modest for the smallies. 2 lb smallie in '07 sounds good to me. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 8, 2007 Super User Posted January 8, 2007 Well, last year I predicted a 7+ smallie, and I had her on, and due to my being DUMB I lost her at the boat. I've been stuck on 6 lb-15oz for too long. I'm predicting (hoping) to break the 7# mark this year. I know they are out there, I just have to use my head when I have her hooked. Wish me luck, Falcon Quote
eastkybass Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Well looking for a new personal best 5+ lbs. I have been stuck on 4 for to long. It is so sad Quote
Fishin49er Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Being that im pretty much new to the sport and my PB now is a 3, ill take anything that breaks that but shooting for a 5. Quote
Troutfisher Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I'll predict a 6 lber. I think it can be done at my local pond, accessed only by me and my friend. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 8, 2007 Super User Posted January 8, 2007 I am going to shoot for a 5 pounder. Quote
FIN-S-R Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 LMB over 10, SMB over 7, and 5 fish limit over 20...during a tourney (already done the 20 lb 5 fish deal while pre-fishin). Im sure I will do the PB upgrades while pre-fishin too, I can never pull em out during a tourney. Quote
