bmadd Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I love Diachi Trebles and can't find them anywhere around here except for the bleeding bait hooks. I use them and can't say they honestly attract more fish than black nickel or bronze. I do prefer black nickel for my hooks though. Quote
farmpond1 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 IMHO it's mostly a marketing gimmick. Pretty soon they will announce that hot pink is the preferred color. Or blue. It's entirely arbitrary. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 12, 2009 Super User Posted February 12, 2009 Why stop at red? Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 12, 2009 Super User Posted February 12, 2009 Why stop at red? I used to have those, still got one or two left somewhere, they didn 't make any difference either excpet for the fact they were really sharp ( as any good hook should be ). Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 13, 2009 Super User Posted February 13, 2009 If your speaking of the invisibilty of red line, thats due to the combination of the red color and the qualities of the monofilament. Because light can pass through it, it becomes invisible. With hooks, the light can not pass throught the metal and therefore reflects the light, similar to the flash on a spinnerbait blade. And since they're red the reflected light is red. Perfect explanation. Quote
Redhed Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 lol red hooks suck ;D.... the bleeding baits suck... this is just from my own personall experience. if they work for you great. they dont work for me Quote
MichiganFisherman Posted February 13, 2009 Author Posted February 13, 2009 I think some of you may be confused. I don't buy into the whole bleeding bait thing but, I did think it'd be interesting to see if these red hooks actually brought anybody just a tiny bit more success than regular black hooks. Obviously, nobody can say that they do. And IME they work just like any other hook. Thanks for all the replies. Quote
nralover Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 I can say that I have had instances where I was using a red hook and after trying everything else, I finally swapped it for a standard EWG and started catching fish. This seems to be more prevalent on certain waters that I fish and less on others, so I have quit buying the reds unless that is all that is in stock. Quote
