Guest avid Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 I have a little paperback called "secrets of the classic champs" It's a couple of pages of interviews with each of the first 15 or so BASS classic champions. They talk about the pattern they used, why they chose it and so on. It's really a great read. They weren't so dominated by sponsors back then. The information is very genuine, and the guys were really down home "good ole boys." I got it at church bazaar for .25 cents. I wouldn't sell it for a hundred dollars. Quote

bass_101 Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Fishing On the Edge by Mike Iaconelli. I read that book in about 3-4 days. I just couldn't put it down. On top of explaining his life and how he made it, there is little how-to sections aside from the book that are really good. It is one of the first fishing books I've read but I just went up to the library Friday and had they get me Bass Strategies by Kevin VanDam. I figure what better way to spend the winter than reading about fishing. Quote

BASS fisherman Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 in pusuit of giant bass by Bill Murphy Sorry to highjack the thread, but I have one quick question. Does Bill Muphys book talk primarily about trophy hunting? Quote
CyBasser Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Advanced Bass Fishing by John Weiss. ABSOLUTELY! I have more than 10 bass books now (and three more on their way), but nothing compares to Advanced Bass Fishing by John Weiss. A real Bass Bible (in spite of it being 20 years old!). Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 14, 2007 Super User Posted January 14, 2007 in pusuit of giant bass by Bill Murphy Yes, but it's not necessarily the place to start. The In-Fisherman Largemouth and Smallmouth books are what I would suggest first. Quote
edbassmaster Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 RW's right...for starters I had a book years ago I think it was called The Bass Fishermans Bible. I didnt know how to bass so I bought that and it taught me the basics and got me "hooked" Some of the most pertinent info for me was learned in that book. Quote
