shootermcbob Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I received a strike king crankbait kit from Bass pro as a gift from my wife. Upon checking it out, the series 6 chartruese sexy shad crankbait does not rattle like it is supposed to. It sounds very different from the series 6 sexy shad crank. I emailed strike king and told them of the problem, and received a reply in two days that they would replace the crankbait. It is coming in the mail. No questions asked, no return shipment asked... just a new one will be mailed to you. I am happy with the response and will continue to purchase their products. Quote
buzzcatcher Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Hello Shootermcbob, I would still fish the so-called defective one. It just might catch more fish since it doesn't sound like all the rest. Different is good sometimes. If you don't want it you can send it to me. Happy to hear SK treated you like they should. David Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted February 4, 2009 Super User Posted February 4, 2009 How could a different sound be bad...I understand that it's not what you expected but it can't be bad...keep it around and one day when the bite is off it may be the hot ticket Quote

Super User retiredbosn Posted February 4, 2009 Super User Posted February 4, 2009 I'm glad you had good luck from Strike King, I purchased a spinner bait, the skirt's band was broken but I didn't notice. The first time I used it the skirt fell off in the water. I called, email, I never got any response at all. The service I got from Strike King sucked. I just purchased another skirt, different company's btw. Quote
zbass Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I bought some one knockers and one of them didn't knock at all. That is the one that catches the most. a lot of guys modify their baits to sound different from the pack. Use it and hang on. Quote
Super User CWB Posted February 4, 2009 Super User Posted February 4, 2009 Believe it or not, I had the exact same problem with the exact same result. Emailed and got response in an hour. New baits in the mail. Not good statement on baits but great customer service. Quote
mrbassky Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I have 2 strike king swimbaits valued at $50 total that broke at the joint on me. :'( I am going to try and send them back. If they dont get replaced I wont be buying anymore strike king swimbaits thats for sure. Both broke in less than an hour of fishing for no reason. But I heard they made the joints stronger. I hope. mctech Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 i had a couple bad crank baits last summer emailed chris brown at strike king and he took real good care of me not only did they replace the baits but i got a total of 6 baits and a nice hat too. Quote
mrbassky Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Who did you email?? I just emailed the generic customer info. Quote
Super User Tin Posted February 4, 2009 Super User Posted February 4, 2009 If I asked them for a new crank everytime one didn't run right or take on water and sink I would have dozens by now. But when their cranks are good, they work. I can deal with spend $6 to buy two cranks and know that one won't run right. Now if it was LC or Megabass I would be rip ____. Quote
shootermcbob Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 Chris Brown is who responded to my email. Message was short and sweet. He replied" No problem. We will gladly replace." I never thought about the "different being better" aspect. I think I will keep it and see if that rings true. Thanks to all who graciously offered to take it off my hands ;D Quote
bmadd Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Chris is a stand up guy. I have met and dealt with him several times, always friendly and has always made time to chat with me. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 5, 2009 Super User Posted February 5, 2009 I went to the Strike king website and emailed from there, never got any response at all. All I wanted was a skirt for the spinner bait, what I got was nothing. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted February 5, 2009 Super User Posted February 5, 2009 Keep it and throw it, unless of course it is an un-tunable P.O.S. like many of the SK cranks. I had a series 1 that made a weird sound and caught fish like mad until I met the wrong brushpile which in turn ate it. Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 5, 2009 Super User Posted February 5, 2009 I have never encountered a problem with any Strike King products and am very glad to read where they stand behind their brand. I agree with the guys....throw that lure! A different sound is what we are all looking for and the pros modify their lures to give them different sounds, movements and looks. Please let us know how your "damaged" lure performs this summer. Quote
BARON49_Northern NY Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Never had any problems with Strike Kings lures until I broke several King Shads. Chris Brown took excellent care of me and replaced the broken ones. He also took the time to explain all the new King shads have a steel pin in the joint to help stop the problem of the hinge pin breaking. Quote
shootermcbob Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 Here is an update. Mr. Brown sent me not only one replacement, but two along with a strike king hat and a color catalog of their products. I will try the "different" crank and let everyone know how it performs. I am a strike king customer for life. I think they not only resolved the problem but went over and above. I would have been happy with a replacement lure. Great Job Strike King! Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 FWIW as a result of this thread and the local tackle store I sent Mr. Brown an email and he responded so quickly I couldn't believe it. He apologized profusely that noone ever took care of my problem and said he would take care of it immediately. I am impressed and will be buying strike king again. Thanks fellas and JTM Sporting goods. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 12, 2009 Super User Posted February 12, 2009 I wanted to update my post on my experience with Strike King, after recieving Chris' email last week I figured that he would send me the skirt that I first asked for. However I recieved today 3 spinner baits in the size and color that was defective, a hat, and the new catalogue. Very quick and good customer service, I'm happy that this post was started as it has changed my attitude about SK's customer service and their product. Quote
