Since 1974.  Have the renewal on my desk, I'm contemplating not renewing.

Posted

Reasons why I'm not:

They went way up on their price ( x2 )

They sent me a book I didn't order

Late on magazine frequently

Too much big business "attitude," excessive telemarketing

I don't do business with companies like that.

I'm not a member, and based on all of the negative threads I have read on this site over the last few months, I never will be.

Just received my last issue, not planning on renewing. I've been a member since 95 but I just don't see any value in continueing. I learn more here!

Venezuela is a terrorist country?  Maybe you know something I'm not aware of.

Their president is virulently anti American, but I'm not aware of any terrorism.

I think we need to careful about these things.  I don't buy Citgo gasoline, and as a BASS memeber wrote to BASS demanding they end their affiliation with Citgo.  But not because they are terrorists.  I was reacting to BASS' affiliation with a state owned company whose president spouted hateful rhetoric toward out president and our country.

We don't need every country in the world to be our friend to get along with them.

China is probably the best example of that.

But terrorists can't be gotten along with.  They can only be destroyed.  I don't see Venezuela in that category.

Yes, I am still a member of BASS

I was a member for a few years but I stopped because I saw no reason to continue unless I wanted a magazine with 90% ads.

I actually like the ads.  In fact, In most magazines it's the ads I'm attracted to.  That not to say, that I don't find some of the articles interesting.  I do, but the ads show what's new, or are silly (the 'skin' ad with skeet and ike) or grand openings, sales, etc.

Is that weird?

PS  you can get bassmaster w/membership, bassin, and most other outdoor mags on ebay for 7 or 8 bucks for two years.  I have never had a problem.

I've been a member of B.A.S.S. since the 1970s, and now I'm an Ex-member (don't miss them either).

Since I'm not on the pro-circuit, I'm not interested in reading about tournaments, anglers, organizations

or promotional hoopla (Just Fishing). For all that other stuff I use the Internet on an as-needed" basis.

I'm currently receiving "Fishing Facts", "In-Fisherman" & "Florida Game & Fish" (though not without trivia, they're highly informative)

I'm a member.   Been one of and on since 1978.  I don't get a lot of benefit out of it.  I just treat it as a subscription to a magazine.

Agree on the price and you used to get a couple freebie lures with a one year subscription. Not any more.  Not that they were a big deal but a couple years ago I got a Berkley firestick minnow bait which I not only used and caught fish with but bought a few more in different colors.

The book is another thing. They used to send the desk planner out free.  Then they sent it out and wanted you to pay for it even though I didn't ask for it.  I never paid but that irked me.

I'm also not to crazy about the organizations treatment of their rank and file federation membership nor do I see much in the magazine the past few years on how BASS is doing much on the conservation front.

ESPN is ruining a once fine organization.
