Shad_Master Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I just caught the first episode of "The Bass Pros" on Versus Channel -- this is a new show put on by Bass Pro Shops and features their Pro Staff (KVD, Jason Quinn, Rick Clunn, Woo Daves and Edwin Evers). If you have a chance, check it out -- you can find out about it at Outdoor World TV at the BPS site (has schedules and show information). Quote
jdw174 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 One of the best "how-to's" on shakey worms that I've ever seen.... Quote
Super User senile1 Posted January 4, 2007 Super User Posted January 4, 2007 Anytime I've seen KVD give a how-to it has always been detailed and informative. Thanks for the heads-up on this show. It looks like they'll be doing the shakey-head show again on the 5th and 7th. I'll be watching. Quote
BASS fisherman Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I too caught the shakey head show. I like shows that actually show you how to do something rather than just people catching fish. I think watching those guys just catching fish is a tease. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted January 5, 2007 Super User Posted January 5, 2007 Bass fisherman, I didn't catch the show but fully agree with you about just watching guys catching fish. The camera always seems to focus on the fish being landed, instead of the fisherman's tactics that caused the fish to hit the lure. Mike Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 5, 2007 Super User Posted January 5, 2007 I saw the ""The BASS Pros", I really liked the part on shakey worms. That's one technique I was going to learn this coming season. I'll be watching that show every week, hopefully it will always be that informative. Falcon Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 5, 2007 Super User Posted January 5, 2007 I too caught the shakey head show. I like shows that actually show you how to do something rather than just people catching fish. I think watching those guys just catching fish is a tease. I know exactly what you mean. It doesnt do me any good if you tell me you are using a particular technique....and then go about catching 30 fish without showing me how to do it too. Wayne Quote
BassPonder72 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I set my DVR to record this show this morning. Glad to know this show will be more informative than anything. I always want to know more about the techniques being used on most fishing shows yet they normally just catch fish and plug a product. Quote
Shad_Master Posted January 5, 2007 Author Posted January 5, 2007 I was checking the line up for shows comming up this weekend and there is another new one called Aaron Marten's Angling Edge or something like that -- the way that guy mumbles, I hope they have a translator for him -- he did a segment on Bass Insider or one of those about tying skirts on jigs, I couldn't understand a word he said ;D Quote
TI_Bassin Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Shad_Master just so you know it's Aaron Marten's :-? not Arron Martens the Bass Elite Series Pro that's hosting the show Bass Edge. I made the same mistake until I watched the show yesterday, still a decent show. So no mumbling ;D Quote
RottManK9 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I just watched the show, thought it was great. Good info, great details. I just hope it keeps giong in that direction. Jon Quote
Bud Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Good show. Now if they would get rid of the freak than host it. Him and his ear rings. Quote
cabela10 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 The Bass Pro's on Versus is a great show. All three segments were great. Then with Rick Clunn talking about spinnerbait blades. Doesn't get much better than that. This is one of the few, very few shows that actually shows you techniques rather than just showing them throw it out and catch a fish and not explain what or how they did it. The show that is more about the catching than the technique is the Charles Ingram show Fishing University. He promotes his sponsors so hard, Spro and that slim that he puts on every single bait he uses. I haven't ever learned anything from Charles Ingram except he tells me when Spro comes out with new baits. OH, and that they use gamakatsu hooks on there baits. Quote
cabela10 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Good show. Now if they would get rid of the freak than host it. Him and his ear rings. Is this a joke? I believe the person you are talking about is Jason Quinn. Quote
cabela10 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Another show that was decent was this one with Aaron Martin, not Aaron Martens. He had Pete Ponds on the show and they were throwing crankbaits. The one thing I didn't understand is, the host, Aaron explained how he was using the bait and fishing and really didn't let the guest Pete Ponds really talk. It was a show that involved a lot of catching, but also attempted to teach techniques. Quote
RottManK9 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Good show. Now if they would get rid of the freak than host it. Him and his ear rings. I'm sure someone's father said some thing similar about you back in your day! It's funny how the world still revolves even though we are all different! Who would have thunk it? : Quote
