Here in PA a fishing license is good for 13 months. Jan 1 to Dec 31 of the current year and the December of the previous year. So you can buy a 2007 license on Dec 1, 2006 and it will be good until Dec 31, 2007.

A resident license is $22.00, $9.00 for a trout stamp, $9.00 for a lake Erie permit. if you buy both it is only $15.00.

I mostly fish Illinois and Wisconson, both expire at the end of March, at least I think that Il still expires on3/31 but not compleetely sure about that because I haven't had to have one for the past 5 years, But Wisconsin really hurts at $50 bucks for non resident and this year I will have to pay them even more for a family license so the wife can come with.

Not sure how many lines total you are allowed to have in the water at once. I should know though...

No more than two total in fresh water.

I believe you can have more in salt water.

Lifetime, baby!

Found out a fringe benefit though might not work all the time....

Last time out, we were checked at the ramp for licenses and boat regs. We weren't the first that they checked. When they came to us, he asked for licenses and I pulled out my lifetime. The GW said, "A true Texas sportsman." Didn't even bother to check the boat.

I am from New York, and like another guy said our license is $19 and good for 1 year (Oct1-Sept31) what surprises me is how much LESS our NY license is than alot of other states, New York tradtionaly taxes and over charges it residants through the nose, I guess my license is a bargin.
